Good ole Shep. He tries way too hard to convince everyone that he and UM people don't care about MSU. A picture says a thousand words- I've never seen so many people care so little about something.










Shep really is the quintessential UM fan in every conceivable way.

I'm in my mid 30 ' s and we've pretty much owned your so called (Bears, rebs or land sharts or whatever the hell you call yourselves these days) in all 3 major sports. So you suck on that Bulldog $#!& Shephs, ya makeup wearing ***. Thank God you're not a representative of our University.

Someone was asking about why we hate Ole Miss earlier this week. It's this ****. Even from their otherwise smart alums. LSU fans are obnoxious because they tend to get a little violent after drinking. Bama fans are annoying because there are so damn many of them. Auburn fans are annoying because anytime things don't go their way they drone on and on about a Bama conspiracy. But Ole Miss fans occupy a special place. They're the guys always talking about Swiss bank accounts a little too loudly (if he has one, it likely doesn't have a comma in it). They're the guys dropping names even though they've only read the names. They're the guys bragging about women when they're spending every night behind a keyboard. They live in a blissful world where they're the only ones who can't see how pathetic they are.

Not all of them, but a lot of them. Is Ole Miss our biggest rival? Hell yes. And only a fool of an Ole Miss fan would think that we're not their biggest rival. The only time they mention LSU being their biggest rival is when it's mentioned that State is their biggest rival.

They feel they are so far above MSU that they won't even dignify us with being their main rival. LSU is a top-tier SEC program, which is what Ole Miss fans see themselves as well. Of course their main rival would be a fellow top-tier SEC program, and not the dregs of the conference like poor ole Mississippi State. However, this is just a front they put out to try and make themselves look superior. We beat them a few times, or start challenging them for recruits, then the real truth comes out. I really can't remember the last time OM fans rushed the field after beating LSU, but they sure did after beating us a couple years ago.

Ironically an Ole Miss girl I work with says he acts like a total *** while he

is on campus. She and a friend tried to get him to take a picture with them and she said his reaction was embarrassing.

Back in 1980, I was a student at Millsaps and all the big Miss. State and ole miss games were at Veterans Memorial Stadium. The first time I walked over, there was a long 20-30' table laid out, with chadeliers and white cloth, with a a black butler serving them. There was a huge flagpole with a Confederate Battle Flag flying.

Shep is no better than most Bama fans (and has something big in common with Katy Perry) - which is to say he does not hold a degree from the University he cheers for. I'm surprised the article failed to mention this...especially after he confirmed he was "in school" there for 5 years. Smart fella.

How bout this... That little place, "Scott field..." His "winners" have only won there 3 times since 1991... That's 3 wins in 12 tries (and only once since '97).... But of course I know he's just trying to pump all the party lines for cool points, so whatever. They can not care about us if they want. I'm gonna continue wanting to kick their pompous asses every time we meet on the field.

The interviewer had a really ignorant question as well. He asked where to send the Bama fans "say they get in town Friday..." Uh, the Bama RVs were there by Wednesday if they wanted a place to park.

I would slightly alter this. in reality, OM doesn't see themselves as top-tier. they won't admit that, but deep down they know where they stand. Trying to propagate the LSU rivalry as their main rival is an attempt to propel OM to the top-tier level. If the nation considers LSU (a legit national program) as OM's main rival, then OM will inevitably be considered a national program as well. This line from Shep says it all in this regard: "I want LSU to hate us just as much." He knows they don't, but if they did, then OM could push that rivalry as being their biggest, and everyone else would see them in a whole new light. And as with everything else ole miss, it all comes back to appearances and placing importance on what everybody else thinks.

I figured Sheppy Shep's real rival would be the Republican party given his sexual preferences. I love it when he goes on these rants. It's that very attitude right there is the which to why Ole Miss ranks fourth in total fans in the state of Mississippi, behind State, LSU and Alabama. They actively drive people away and are proud of it. I've had personal run ins with Shepard Smith that I've posted here before about him cussing out Mississippi State. We completely own his mind and I can personally testify to that.

When the rebs get on the high horse about Mississippi State being rednecks, so on and so forth, it does nothing but helps us and embarrasses them. "Redneck" to them means "masculine" to the rest of the NCAA. We are talking about a fan base that derives their self esteem from wearing scarves, getting their asses kicked on the football field, and sitting around a picnic talking about their granddaddy's glory days under a tent with a chandelier at a 17ing football game. The whole ***** lot of them are an embarrassment to anyone from Mississippi that calls himself a man.

I don't agree with everything you said but you hit on the main point. They drive people away. It's why we dominate that heat map. Ole Miss attracts a disproportionate amount of people whose personal identity is tied to feeling superior to other people. If you actually are superior in sports you can get away with that. But when you're not - and they haven't been since the 80's - then you have to come up with other reasons for being superior... and then you just come off looking like a bunch of bigots. And then the cycle repeats.

For some reason I think UMiss recruits heavily out of state. Thus they end up with students that weren't bright enough to meet their state's admission standards, and the "party school" shtick is appealing to them, too. What you end up having is a student body full of hipsters with a chip on their shoulder to begin with.

Nor do I give two craps for his almost alma mater or who they consider their rival. I will say this though. Take a look at any one of their message boards on any given week other than the actual LSU week. You will likely see ZERO threads about their 'rival' but you will consistently see four or five MSU threads and sometimes it takes over their entire board such as did the Dillon Day situation. I'll just say actions speak louder than words!

He is not a graduate. He left 2 credits shy of earning his degree. Therefore I see him as a quitter.
According to Webster's he is an alumnus though. After looking up the definition, it seems you do not have to graduate to be an alumnus. I did not realize this.
