I’m not clear on what is considered exercise.
Can I kayak fish? That’s really all I want to know

We’ve got one here in NC, and I dare em to stop me from fishing this weekend. But really a ton of people are fishing at the coast still. Don’t know about MS, but you should be fine

Well the Ross Barnett is closed to all boating and fishing during the shelter in place. Don't know how that effects your local waters.

Not sure where you are located. MS closed the REZ to boating starting Friday. Not sure if that means Kayaks or not. Would assume so.

This in VA mind you... but the city I live in closed down the Greenway (paved path all over town for exercising) because of overcrowding once the stay at home order was passed. If the greenway is packed again this weekend they are also shutting down parks and will be patrolling for folks ignoring the order.

It looks like the Rez is closed, even for fishing. Not sure how much they will actually enforce one person in a kayak fishing though. Also, I’m not sure cutting off a single person fishing was really the intent.

The intent was to stop the morons from congregating up river. The fishermen just got caught up in it.

They are "encouraging outdoor activities". It doesn't say you have to do those outdoor activities at home. That will be my excuse between here and Simpson Co anyway.

It's stupid. A couple of deputies in a patrol boat with a bullhorn could control the "up river" crowd.

My guess is, they probably won’t be enforcing too much the guys fishing and staying away from each other.

No clue what they are going to try to enforce, but I would kayak as normal. Maybe try to put in somewhere other than a public ramp if that’s what you normally do.

I am not going to avoid the water. The only place we even cross paths with somewhere other people have been is the boat ramp, and we literally touch nothing there unless somebody puts their hand on a piling for support while they are getting in the boat.

Same thing with perks and other public spaces. We’ve been avoiding playgrounds and benches, etc, but we have been using public parks and will continue to do so unless and until LEO stops us. We’re never within six feet of anybody and I expect law enforcement are not going to be going out of their way to screw with people that aren’t congregating.

I have a condo on the AL coast. Does the MS shelter in place eliminate a trip there?

A paved path that runs thru the heart of downtown has been overflowing with people. And right next to the path are multiple singletrack trails thru the hills. It's a damn swarm of people.

I took this yesterday as I rode past a park in the suburbs. At least 40 people were there, probably more. And it's just 2 courts.
Absurd.

So to make sure I'm clear...50,000 acre lakes are bad. Can't go there. Your local Walmart is good. You can go there.

The city of Houston took down basketball hoops at all city parks and facilities starting yesterday. It was the same thing, big groups playing pick up games and doing the opposite of physically distancing themselves from one another.

Pat Harrison waterway lakes are closed as well. Don’t pat Harrison lakes and the Rez supply water for the area?
Their surrounding areas that is.

I'd consider whatever gets your heart rate up while actually participating in some type of physical activity. You're good.

Keep in mind all the boat ramps will be open now. The order doesn't go into effect until 5:00pm today. The key is if they're open at 5:01pm.

I’m not sure where you live on the coast. I’m in Gautier and they shut down all city parks, etc with the exception of 1 boat launch so you can probably call the city/county that you live in to check.

I live 100 yards from a makeshift launch on County ROW that the neighborhood uses with direct access to Bluff Creek and the Pascagoula river. Worst case you can send me a PM and I’ll send directions.

harrison county sheriff put up a post saying boating/fishing was ok and islands were open. Then national seashore park put up post that said all islands are shut down. So who the hell knows. I would think fishing in a kayak by yourself will be fine. I’m assuming they’re more worried about the congregating of people. Horn island looked like the 4th of july last Sunday. I’m sure the people at grasshopper could care less about social distancing.

Boat launches are still open. If they close those, I know of a private one I can use.
