He played at three high schools in four years.

What age was he when he moved to Virginia?

Don't know yet a lot of well known coaches have changed teams after the season will find out soon and let you know.

I was told each of the last two years no out of state teams and that is the plan for this year.

See what you can do with this one, hornet.

Corona Centennial is looking for a week four or five game. They need someone to visit sunny Southern California. They lost to IMG by one last season and to St John Bosco, the eventual Cali champ (beat De LaSalle), by two in the playoffs. They beat big school Arizona champ Chandler which in turn beat Valdosta (GA) in the Florida post season prep bowl games.

He played for Shelby Middle School, but left mid season of the eight grade to move to Virginia.

I knew he was from Shelby but did not know when he moved. Was at a public. Went to the neighboring public school then left with the HC for Bishop Sullivan.

Are they helping with travel expense or paying how much for the team to come out there?

All GA schools.

Corona is not helping from what I understand. Trip to LA suburbs. Play a top ten team that likes to toss it around.

Shelby needs a 2017 game for either Week 6 or Week 7. Contact Lance Ware at [email protected].
Dunbar High School of Baltimore,Md. is willing to travel to Shelby to play them if Shelby will help them with their travel expense since the public schools in Baltimore is hurting financially. They are not afraid to play Shelby regardless of their winning tradition. How do you Shelby fans feel about it?

Corona stated that they don't have the money to help schools come to them. The most they could contribute is $1,000.

If you can beat Sullivan, you should go play them. They are always looking for games, no one in VA will play them.

Since Shelby cannot get a team in NC or SC I know a team in VA. and MD. that will but they would have to help the MD. team with traveling expenses I know they could help them out if they wanted to play them bad enough. They have the funds to do it.

That would be awesome to play some of those schools.I'm so tired of playing pitiful 3A football.

There are plenty of great schools within a couple of hours of Shelby that we can hopefully schedule. You guys trying to turn High School football into a semi-pro, national thing are bound to ruin it.

They should be able to fill the schedule by now. I would like to see them play an SC school. The tough thing is getting a team with an opend date in week six. Most schools are playing conference schedules then. The decision may come down to play an inferior team for a little "practice" and get the gate, do not play an eleven game schedule, or pay some money to get a team to come from out of the area.

Scheduling can be a logistical nightmare.

Its been a national thing for a few short decades now. It would have been ruined in the 80s and 90s if that were the case.

Chopper - Shelby High is not a national program. We are a good amateur football team in North Carolina. The others you speak of probably are ruined. I like the way we do things.

I agree if you good then play the best and prove it try something different for a change for the fans and stop playing teams you know you can be beat. The team from MD. would have been great because they have a great tradition also in football and basketball spend some of that money and bring some good teams in from out of state if no one in NC or SC will play you at your house.

No high school is a 'national' program, MOST of them are local with local players. Are you sure you are familiar with how you do things? Your team has been playing out of state games(in SC) over several decades as have other schools in other states. I understand it makes you uncomfortable for some weird reason, but nobody is being hurt or pyschologically damaged by playing schools in other states. It's no big deal.

hey chop, you are now arguing against yourself.
I'm all for playing any school within a couple hours that has an open date.
I'm not for a big exchange of money to get a team from halfway across the country to come in.

I don't think Shelby want to play any non-conference teams they are not sure they could beat. Several teams from out of state was willing to play them but Shelby didn't pursue it seriously you got the run around from the power to be who make the decisions on scheduling.

I would rather pay a team equal to or a bit better than play a squad that we would blow out. If that means splitting the gate with them for a one off so be it.
And that was exactly what was trying to be done but Shelby was dragging it feet and still is. Dunbar from Baltimore was willing to come play Shelby on 9/29 at Shelby and was willing to back out of a contract they had with another team but Shelby didn't offer to help them. A lot of schools especially in some cities where basketball is more popular doesn't have a 7,000 seat stadium like Shelby who on most games probably has a sell out and bring in almost $40.000 a game. They should have the funds to pay teams if they want to complete their schedule with good teams rather than get somebody they know they can beat. Fans like to see good teams from other places they hear about play even just for comparison of talent.

Hey man Berry Academy is looking for a game for the 7th week of 2017 season will Shelby play them in Charlotte?
I have no clue. I just show up and watch the games. Whoever they play, whether it be Q foundation or Dallas Cowboys, I'll be pulling for Shelby.

And we'll probably win.

If I'm Coach Ware, I try to schedule TL Hanna. I doubt they'd take it though.

I would like to see them play Chapman. The SC school won the 3A state title beating Dillon. 45 mile drive. Got to make the schedules happen. No idea what Chapman looks like the next few years.

Shelby need a game and is a good team plus IMG need the same date and is willing to pay at least $10,000 plus room and board for them to come to Florida and be on ESPN. You can't beat that if you want to play a good team to see where you are compared to IMG. IMG only won at Bishop Sullivan in Virginia Beach by 16-6 and Shelby is a lot better than Bishop Sullivan.
