I would like to see, #9 Que Brooks, in the backfield. Despite not being able to showcase it yet, he has good size and speed to burn. Why he didn’t get any snaps whatsoever vs Burns is beyond me. Fuller is a good all around football player, but he’s far from a burner.
I would also like to see Fabian Pettis involved in the offense, he’s a burner, and arguably the best athlete on the team. If nothing else, give him some snaps at runningback, run the toss with him, and let him be the athlete that he is.
And, before any Shelby poster brings up the O line, I didn’t think they played as badly as some has mentioned. Don’t get wrong, the line is weak, but there were several times Bess had time to throw, plenty of time, and he made some mistakes that a young, first year varsity quarterback typically makes, it happens. Burns ran some zone defense, too, and had success doing so.
As far as running the ball, had Brooks been in the backfield, we definitely would have had more rushing yards. T. Scott is a capable back, too, but he was out with an injury. Fuller gave good effort, and actually had a decent yards per rush average, but we have better, more experienced options to put back there, in my opinion.
