I guess I need some clarification: IF he graduated in May 2021, as the story is claiming, then why didn't he play at UK this year? He could've been here in the fall, played an entire year of major UK basketball, landed even better NIL deals, and developed even more.

Why didn't that happen?
^^^THIS is the question that NEEDS to be answered. Hopefully there will be significant pressure applied to force Calipari to answer this question specifically. No stream of consciousness or rambling about gold standards, eating first and pooping ice cream. If he continues that cutsie garbage he's going to catch a lot of hell...and rightfully so.

Tried to tell half of you this was coming way back in January, but you just wanted to have your heads stuck in the mud ignoring the signs. Maybe next time you won’t be so easily fooled.
Nah they will still be easily fooled because those people are dumbasses.

Here's another question: Cal's handler said Cal is SOOOOOO get at developing players - you can go back and see his comments and how complimentary he was of Cal. So let me ask this: Why didn't Sharpe come to campus in the fall so that he would get a full year of development with Cal, rather than just January to April?

It doesn't make any sense that if he graduated in May, that he didn't play this year. But it makes even less sense that if he came here to develop, he wouldn't do it for the entire season.

I mean, what the actual f***

Hes not a wildcat in my eyes and will not root for him in anyway. Sounds like there was at least some deceit going on from his side. Be wary if you're an NBA team drafting him so high.

Won't wish him injury, but I said before, it would be in Kentucky and Cals best interest if this little stunt he pulls backfires. Because if this does work for Sharpe, it tells future recruits they can pull this ****. So here's to hoping he shoots 18% and his attitude and work ethic (already in question) leads to him flaming out.

It was easy to see this coming unless you just didn’t want to. The entire situation was shrouded in deceit & shadiness. Sharpe, his camp & Cal were all predictably FOS & lied thru their teeth all season. Absolutely disgusting. And, to think how ppl were attacked & mocked for seeing things for what they were.
Agree.

Maybe it will finally wake the last few of you up to who Snake oil Cal really is. This is Kentucky. He can’t be allowed to ruin it.

The chapter needs to end the second Oscar is gone.
Few of who? I don't need to wake up and am well aware of the steady decline of my program over the past few years.

I honestly think this or the year after that will be his last year here, he honestly doesn’t like he is enjoying coaching here that much anymore

that’s why you never believe somebody my age we don’t know what we don’t know and also screw his handlers

How would anyone not think Sharpe didn't have enough credits to graduate in May. With online classes and the private schools the players choose, it is simple. Trevor Keels and AJ Griffin are younger and were able to do it (Actually all college bound high schoolers do it). That is unless Sharpe needed the 5th year for credits.

The 5th year Senior bit is for physical maturation and not academics (except for non-qualifiers and that usually leads to Junior College.).

Yeah this was dishonesty by him and Cal. I thought maybe the kid would have integrity but he's the first kid to sit out and take nil money. He is no kentucky wildcat and he could've been a distraction to the team.

I agree if Cal doesn't build a good team around Oscar this year he should be gone. No less than an elite 8 gone. We need probably at least 3 to 4 more players.

Looking at all the info coming out it’s pretty sad that the handlers came out with a plan like this that is now going to get Sharpe bashed . We know Sharpe we don’t know the handlers .

You tell him if he's coming to join the team he's playing, and if he doesn't want to play we'll see you next year. If he leaves over that, so be it.

As KSR is saying now: we would have signed a different high level player for next year if we didn't have him, so it's not a simple matter of all upside, we get him or we don't and nothing was lost. There was a cost to gambling on him and we got burned, it looks like.
Exactly. That's why I don't understand the idiots who have defended this nonsense. "How do you not take him?!?!"

Well...you don't take him if you're going to sign someone who wants to play instead. Having a guy on the bench and as a practice guy......you can be a practice guy without being on scholarship. You want to come and be a student for a year and scrimmage I'm sure arrangements can be made. Meanwhile you're taking up a spot on the bench someone who actually has the balls to play will take.

If you're the owner of the business that gave Sharpe NIL compensation (money, car, etc), are you suing for breach of contract? I certainly would.
And as a side note, does this situation make you less likely to invest in a highly ranked Calipari recruit?
Lots of fallout potentially coming from this mess.
That's assuming the contract has stipulations that Sharpe actually PLAYS. But you better believe businesses will think twice on how much to give out in NIL deals because of this. Businesses don't want to have the next Sharpe associated with them.

If you're not going to play, there's the door. Shame on Cal.
