Sharar Targeting Call Overturned

IOWA CITY, Iowa --
The NCAA Coordinator of Officials has overturned the University of Iowa’s appeal regarding a targeting personal foul on sophomore Karson Sharar during the first half of the Minnesota-Iowa football game on Oct. 21.

Sharar tackled Minnesota’s Quentin Redding on a kickoff return with 43 seconds remaining in the first half and was disqualified for the remainder of the contest.

After review, it was determined Sharar did not target with the crown of the helmet and he subsequently should not have been disqualified.

Iowa (6-2, 3-2) returns to action against Northwestern on Nov. 4, at Wrigley Field in Chicago.

More BS from the NCAA. I wonder how they managed to make a decision so quickly. LOL They're still studying their gambling penalties. SAD.

I would have thought they would need several months to review everything. And what difference does it make? The Iowa player was unjustly maligned and banned from the rest of the game. Not even the NCAA can give that time back to him.

The TV rules expert said at the time that it was NOT targeting, and then gutlessly backtracked when the Review ref handed down his edict. The whole thing stinks. Ask Aaron Rodgers.
