This is so stupid. He will likely be picked anywhere from 15-25. If he improved his shooting and decision making he could go top 5. That’s a big difference in not only money but in situation. If he leaves he will probably be drafted by atleast a decent team that already has a pg.

This fanbase has eat up all the bs and been brainwashed into thinking as soon as a player hits first round in mocks then they should leave or that a player can’t improve after one, two years at the most. WCS says hello.

Would it be possible for you to do a Reverse jinx thread in regards to Shai returning for a sophomore year ? ;)

Lol. Coming from the biggest moron on this forum, I take this as a compliment. And when he is taken as a lottery pick, you will slither away and not be seen like you usually do.

Whatever you do, do NOT bump old “Cal needs to be fired/ we’re going to the NIT” threads. It’s a sure fire trigger warning

Nobody should go. It's the Kentucky effect and it dictates that the best performing freshman MUST go pro. It's silly. SGA ANYWHERE else with same performance in season stays 3-4 Years. Knox, 2 Years, HAMI , 4 years.

Actually in his case, it makes all the sense in the world to leave now. Next year, we’re more guard heavy and his time will be cut no matter what. Also, the things he needs to work on, can be done in the NBA or even the G-League . He has he maturity and the motor down unlike the rest of these guys that may or may not leave. Color me pessimistic, but I’m not sold that Shai’s game is going to work well in the league unless he gets a consistent jump shot. He may not get a 2nd contract, so take the money now while the iron is hot. If he can fool a team into drafting him into the lottery, then so be it. Another year is just going to find more holes, more weaknesses.

I think he shocks us and stays. Why else announce now. Otherwise he would go to NBA tryouts and then make a decision.

I have to wonder about this
Cal is a master at PR right?
Shai is announcing the day after the title game. A game which, potentially, could have huge implications (I see you Loyola). Should the Cinderella win it all, what better way to get Kentucky back in the front page than to have our surprise star announce that he’s returning?

That being said, I do think he’ll make the jump
He is making th jump.
If he announces, Knox is gone too. Part of Knox’s logic surrounding a return was predicated on initial discussions with Shai and PJ that they’d “all come back.”

With Shai going, part of the reason for a Knox return evaporates.

I’m happy for both of them when they finally make their NBA decisions. They’re both gone, and should be.

My prediction included lottery. Can’t you count? Go back to the UL board and like some more of Zipp’s posts.

No point in an announcement unless he’s gone.

He knows he’ll be a lottery pick. If he was unsure, he’d take his time and go through the process—get feedback and then decide.

To announce now means he’s 100% gone IMO.
This is the way I'm thinking too. Hope I'm wrong, though. Would love to see them all back.

Really hoping they come back to win 9, but I'm guessing it's Shai, then next day another and another and so on and so on. I'm just hoping no more than 3. Please!

I think we all knew when UK offered Ashton Hagans and hoping for him to reclassify to 2018 that SGA and probably Diallo was both heading to the NBA. If they were staying that would give us Green, Quickley, Baker, Herro, SGA, Diallo, and Hagans if he reclassifies to 2018. That would be 7 guards and there is no way that is happening. If Ashton Hagans reclassifies that gives us Green, Quickley, Herro, Baker, and Hagans. We are going to have some outstanding shooters next year. If you watch Villanova they went 18-40 from 3 pointers and all 5 starters shot 6 or 7 3's beating KU.

Then at Forwards we will have PJ, Vanderbilt, Gabriel, and I am 50/50 still on Knox. I do believe that Kevin Knox will return next year. He just seems to love College Basketball and wants to compete next year to get to the Final Four and try and win a National Championship. If SGA didn't have that great stretch from Mid SEC to NCAA Tourney we probably would had most of the team back except Diallo. If we have next year at Forward PJ, Vanderbilt, Gabriel, and Knox(if he returns) our guards and forwards are going to be outstanding next year. I don't know if Knox returns what that does with EJ

Then we have Richards, SKJ, and EJ Montgomery(If he picks UK) for our Post Players. I think we will see like this year with PJ, Vanderbilt, and Knox playing underneath and then if we can get EJ Montgomery I could see PJ, Knox, and Montgomery underneath. We could also play Knox, Gabriel, and PJ underneath. There are so many options that Coach Cal could go with underneath and if we land EJ Montgomery that would be huge. SKJ starting improving at the end of the SEC Season heading into the SEC Tournament and NCAA Tournament. We just need Nick Richards to really work on his game during the summer and improve so he can play more at Center next year. That would be 12 players and Coach Cal would have 1 opening left and he would probably save that Scholarship unless Wynyard comes back and play at UK. This would be an outstanding team next year with a lot of shooters and powerful underneath and with the mix of veterans and the Freshmen I could see us heading to the Final Four and hopefully #9 between the talent returning and Freshmen talent coming in next year. This would be a great mix of talent that we haven't see in 2 or 3 years with the mix of youth and veterans.

Only a fool, such as yourself, would think Shai should return. And I will go back to the UL forum on occasion and like his and those other clown posts to get under their skin since I have been banned from posting there.

I can live with that.

Shai’s arrival in Lexington (instead of Florida) kept UK from an NIT season this year.

I’m happy Cal brings in this level of player. I’m looking forward to Quickley coming in and possibly Hagans.

The beat goes on. UK’s best days are still ahead of it. As long as we have Calipari, we have a chance.

That’s not even close to true. SGA and Knox are OAD with this years performance at any power 5 conference.

Any equation with Knox returning puts UK in the driver’s seat next year.

In the scenario where Diallo/SGA leave and UK adds Hagans:

G – Green

G – Quickley

F – Johnson

F – Knox

F – Washington

With Gabriel, Richards, Herro, and Vanderbilt rounding out the rotation. A year wiser and more physically attuned to the college game, with two clutch scorers in Johnson/Knox.

A boy can dream.

It's none of your business if Shai or anyone decides to go. It's their life and their future. Just because you're a loser doesn't mean they have to take that path. They're not here to make you feel happy.. Get over yourself.

I really enjoy the kids' announcements they're going into the draft. The only announcements I enjoy more are the ones they make in their high school gymnasiums when they reveal their college choice- and their UK tshirt.

That would be awesome! Think the timing and the way Cal likes to stay in headlines points that this will be farewell to Shai...but announces to Hagan's that UK making room just for you or(Jalen leque)....
Or Shai wants BBN something to celebrate after not being in title game...

"After reviewing the season and speaking to my family I've wanted to show my appreciation to BBNation and announce I am returning for my sophomore year to improve my craft and get you, the fans, The National Title you deserve!"
Could happen...he is Canadian....
