Don't ever remember this many doing it. College Station regional is nuts!

We are a 95% chance of winning with Valencies and a 93% with Stone. Well worth it.

I cannot imagine a scenario where a #1 seed should be throwing their ace against a #4 seed

Yogi & Polk have not been coaching for a long time

I remember a long time ago Arizona St was #1 in the nation. Creighton was a 4-seed in their regional but had the best pitcher in the nation. Can’t remember his name offhand but he had a long & pretty good MLB career. Creighton won 1-0. ASU came back & won the regional. But it’s very rare you should throw your ace vs the 1-seed. I think Southern Miss is considering it after losing to the 4-seed last year. But their 1, 2 & 3 are pretty much all interchangeable anyway.

If your pitchers are all about equal, that might be a reason to keep your usual order. Or if for whatever reason the 4 seed is good or at least they are throwing a legitimately good pitcher.

But it should be a lot more than 9 teams holding their best.

There are five 4-seeds with an RPI of 199 or lower. A lot of margin for error for many of these teams.

I mean if a 4 had a 1st rounder going game 1 I could see it. But the current state with the portal has probably eliminated that I would guess.
