I find myself watching Seton & DePaul and I'm rooting for Seton to help RU SOS. If these are the top 2 team in Big East, I'm not at all impressed.

Seton Hall is very very good. As you have seen with our close ones you don’t always get that performance. They are a top 10 team.

The Big East is a very overrated conference every year including this year. Villanova obviously has carried the league as no other squad has done diddly in the dance.

The only worthy squads this year of making the sweet 16 are Nova and Seton Hall.

Butler and Creighton will lose on weekend 1 and the rest of the conference is horrid and grossly overrated such as Marquette

Horrid = Georgetown, St Johns, Providence, DePaul and Xavier.

Ro Gill didn’t play basketball in HS, so when he applied to JC to play ball, he was behind the standard age timeline and then he redshirted 1 year.

Misleading thread title - thought you were saying they were in OT, which scared me, as we all want SHU to win out for our SOS. SHU won 64-57 for anyone curious.

The game was ugly. Moore of Depaul had 7 or 9 turnovers. He was out of control much of the night. I think both teams had 17 turnovers. SHU was only 14-28 on foul shots. Powell was 4-18 on field goals before making 2 layups and finished 7-21 and 2-10 on threes. I think he was 8-13 on foul shots. Depaul did absolutely nothing over about the last 7 minutes. Mamu returned but only played 5 minutes.

Gill is already 25. Hazell I believe was 25 in his last year as well.

DePaul is not a joke this year despite their conference record. They have as many wins in the Big Ten this season as Ohio State and Michigan, and two of them were on the road (at Iowa by 15, and Minnesota). They muck it up and make every game a slog. After a week off, I was glad to get out of there with a win tonight.

Spot on and I was concerned that we may end up playing Hall in NCAA, not anymore.

Don’t root against you guys (I’m a law school alum). But don’t underestimate how nervous your guys will be playing in such a big stage in potentially a football arena with 80k fans, an insane amount of press, and decades of fan angst behind them. It got to SHU players in past NCAA trips as well. It will get to yours, especially if you’re favored/high seed.

De Paul has basically played their way out of the field the last few weeks. Going to need a strong February

Game didn't go into overtime

I've never seen so many missed free throws, many missed by Powell too

Gill is a force on defense around the hoop

Agreed. Big East is very top heavy. And there are no great teams this year. SHU is undefeated in the Big East but has lost to 2 Big 10 teams (RU and MSU), a PAC 12 team (Oregon) and a Big 12 team (ISU). And Villanova got blown out by Ohio State, who is currently the 11th place team in the Big 10 and lost by 10 to the Big 12’s best team, Baylor.

Every team throws up a stinker every once in awhile. You were lucky to beat Bryant on a rimmed out 3 and you lost to St. Bonnies. Does that make RU overrated? Definitely not. SHU played a completely **** game missing something like 15 free throws and 15 3s, yet still won. Powell is still not himself and may be suffering from lingering effects of his concussion.

I doubt RU will be favored in many games, if any. I don't dispute your contention though about RU's players having never been in this situation. Some time that ends up being an advantage, since they aren't expected to be there nor to advance. In my mind we are playing with house money. By the way, I have been rooting for Hall to keep winning.

The BIG has 12 teams in the top 40. The Big East only has 5. The BIG won the Gavitt games as well. Depaul was good in November and Iowa and Rutgers are both so much better than they were in mid November. Last night's SHU game was a brutal game by both teams shooting well under 40 % and both making many turnovers.

You have become a constant basher of the Hall. Long way from ur days at the Prep. Or am I mistaken?

How did I bash SHU? Both teams had 17 turnovers, SHU shot 14-28 on foul shots. Depaul shot 33 % on fg's and SHU was just a little better. Powell was 4-18 on field goals until he made 2 layups ahead of the field and a nice jumper. The game really was very ugly. Just check the box score. I did attend the Prep for 2 years and use to root for the Hall but that was a long time ago.
