basically a slap on the wrist but they do lose a scholorship

The NCAA has placed the men’s basketball program at Seton Hall on probation for three years, taken away a scholarship for the 2020-21 academic year and limited recruiting in each of the next two seasons as part of a negotiated resolution of a transfer tampering case started in 2016.

Under terms of the agreement announced Friday, Seton Hall coach Kevin Willard was given a two-game suspension he has already served, and his former assistant and current St. Peter’s University head coach Shaheen Halloway received a four-game suspension that has two games remaining.

Seton Hall, which is currently ranked No. 12 and dropped a 76-73 decision to No. 3 Michigan State on Thursday night, remains eligible for the NCAA Tournament.

The NCAA also announced Friday Seton Hall has been fined $5,000 plus 1% of the men’s basketball budget and had its scholarships reduced to a maximum of 12 in 2020-21. Willard will have to attend an NCAA rules seminar in 2020 and the program will have a two-week ban on recruiting communication this academic year and next.

Meanwhile the blue bloods can get away with murder.

I agree. the NCAA didn't become a joke on how they have handled this.

they're a joke across the board.

I feel lucky that Rutgers didn't get slapped with sanctions based on what you guys did here ;)

SHU engaged in a ton of criminal behavior for a long, lone time. It's a dirty program.

Probably not enough of a penalty to discourage the same kind of shenanigans in the future. Bigger penalty though than what North Carolina got for almost 20 years of academic sham.

$5,000 LOL.
When a Div.1 program is fined an amount that anybody here could write a check to pay, it is laughable. Why even bother?

I guess driving 90 through an elementary school parking lot during recess should be about 15 cents.-Mistake telephone calls? One time maybe, but there were 154 calls !!!!!

SHU has made 4 straight NCAA appearances. Rutgers hasn't been to the NCAAs since 1991, and hasn't had a winning conference record in over 20 years.

Shields, other than tampering with a player who can’t get off our bench, what cheating has SHU done? Hiring Tiny Morton was entirely within the rules.

The total fine will be much higher than $5,000.

Not a SHU fan by any stretch but I feel like it’s a little excessive. Particularly the loss of a ship. I think a fine, the weeks of no recruiting and suspension would of been enough.

some of the blue bloods are getting away with murder unscathed compared to this

That’s funny, RU has had a 13 year post season ban and a 28 year NCAA ban and they didn’t even do anything wrong.
