And the measuring stick for all other NBA teams (The Los Angeles Lakers) are off to a 2-0 start after easily handling the fiesty Blazers and the other LA team.

But Croomed the joint up with a scorching 71 themselves. Strong 14 point fourth quarter.

especially now with artest. but 14 in a quarter? that just sucks. 71 won't beat anybody.

stellar debut for oj mayo: 5-20 from the floor, 0-7 from deep.

watch out for the rockets this year. assuming, of course, they can stay healthy (BIG assumption). artest can fill up a box score, and if you don't like it, he'll come find you in the stands.

I would have thrown a remote through my tv. I don't believe they made a field goal in the final 8 minutes.

That said, they are much better defensively and a good veteran away from being solid. If they keep their current young core together, they will be a force to be reckoned with for the next decade.

I also noticed that for much of the last quarter, they had Conley, Mayo, Gay, Gasol, and Arthur in the game. Gay would be the grizzled vet of that group at 24 (I think).

Also, I really hope that everyone takes a second look at the Gasol trade in another three years. Between Arthur, Marc, another 1st round pick that the Grizz will get, and serious cap room this summer, that "horrible" trade may not end up being near as bad as people would have you think.

Not many people think it was horrible. Lot of us hated Gasol, and his puss showing in the finals last year showed why. He's a good player and all, but not good enough, nor tough enough, to be THE guy.

...the NBA is golf or tennis, only giving a damn about one guy, shaq. Your suns, err, heat, err, lakers, err, magic......

that foul 5 seconds into the game was funny though, even if it was the spurs.</p>

but the backlash from the media was ridiculous. There was even talk that some of the Western Conference head coaches were going to somehow try to file some sort of injunction. Greg Popovich was the one leading that charge.

I think that most of the hate from NBA analysts was due to the typical "We want it now" attitude. On paper, the Grizz traded a great player in his prime for Kwame Brown and some draft picks. However, down the road the Grizz will probably end up getting the much better end of this deal. You're right that Pau was taking them nowhere anyway so it was a good move for them.

how the media was portraying it as the Griz giving the Lakers the championship, only to get into the playoffs and start proclaiming that Pau's lacking defense was going be a hurdle in the Finals.

I swear I think sometimes that someone in the Grizzlies organization must have 17ed Chad Fords wife or something. That guy is a brutal critic of the Grizz to the point of almost being contradictory at times just to prove a point.

went from Magic to Barkley to Shaq. Although, I only had a 2 year stint with Barkley.
