I wanted a win as much as anyone tonight. Lived through the NCAA as a one point favorite and the NIT loss to Tommy. Still bitter. But taking shots at Juwan? One of the classiest guys I know. Calls everyone sir because his grandmother taught him to. Michigan fans are arrogant jerks. They inhabit my family. But oh so wrong about Juwan. Ask the Rutgers staff with whom they associate. He is a good man.

I think he comes off as an arrogant jerk at times.

As a head coach, your squad is an extension of yourself. I didn’t like what I saw out of UM tonight, especially towards the end of the game. If he’s such a good man, he’ll hold them accountable.

Was that Johan Howard coaching Michigan today, or was it Moe Howard?

Oh stop sometimes in the heat of the moment with young Michigan players there was nothing Juwan could’ve done to avoid that altercation. That’s just grown boys with testosterone going at it. Just look at football, happens all the time with altercations doesn’t mean the coach is at fault for a players emotions.

You don't think his endgame approach with the hard foul and timeout had any effect? It certainly didn't diffuse the UM team's aggressiveness.
Imagine Rutgers dribbling those last 18 seconds off the clock where players start early to their benches and tell me it would not have mattered?

That wasn’t what I was talking about. Watch the screen on McConnell with 3 seconds on the clock. Is that just grown men in the heat of the moment? The game’s over. No need to try to hurt someone.

I don’t think it’s arrogance. It feels more like confidence.
Yes confidence

After going over it many times i now agree with you. That was intentional and shouldn’t have been done totally douche move. But does that really mean Juwan Howard had anything to do with it. The players are just pricks idk if Juwan makes them act that way but I’m sure soon enough we’ll find out

He recruits and develops the players. They play the way he wants them to.

Of course. I understand that. But do you think JH wants them to act in that manner? I don’t know if that’s based on his coaching or just kids being ******** to opponent playing. When I played College D2 lacrosse my coach was the nicest man but our team could be asses to the other opponents at times. I don’t agree and I’m sticking with that.

I heard that Howard would yell out "box out", loudly, every time a Rutgers player was in the throwing motion on a free throw.

do coaches ordinarily do that? seems like poor sportsmanship for a coach to do that? no?

They usually yell before the shot not as the ball leaves the hand. Howard is a tough guy and is not someone the players want to take on. He may have a soft side to him but hasn’t shown it on court.

Howard = James Franklin of college hoops. Now that he's in Year 3 with no more Beilein players, we are starting to see him for what he really is...an ace recruiter who is mediocre on game day.

I posted this in another thread but it fits here as well. I can’t agree with the folks saying Howard couldn’t do anything to limit the nonsense much of his team engaged in:

I won’t give Howard credit… He did nothing to reel in the increasing chippyness and ultimately dirty plays, let alone the absolute freak out by Diabate. And from what I could see neither did his staff. If the um water boy didn’t have a death grip around Diabate he would have cracked someone’s skull with a chair or a sucker punch… he WAS that unhinged. He yelled “I’m going to ?????? you” to fans as he was physically dragged off the court. That idiot’s breakdown almost trampled the kid in the wheelchair heading to the celebration. Yet no um official did a thing. No I won’t give him credit for shaking hands when he should have squashed the shiitshow instead
