Now explain to the kids what rabbit ears are. LOL
You had to wiggle them all the time!!!

The more static energy you had, the more you could infuence the reception, for good or bad. I was a hsit and used this new found trait tor bad! I would scuff my sock cover feet on the carpet, find a spot where signal went wonky, then once adjusted, I would leave, and recharge in another room, and create havoc agan.

I did not do this during Nebraska Football games!!!

I was a rotten little kid.

This might be the absolute worst take I've ever seen on this site. And that is saying something.

There is a **** ton of talent in the Northeast and Penn State is the flagship go to school for that talent.

And it was Riley for phucks sake.
Go read their board. You may be surprised.

I think Rhule may still be in the mix.

I am ambivalent.

Weird! I haven’t seen a whole lot that want Rhule fired. However, if he decides to leave on his own accord I don’t think there would be alot of tears shed if that happens.

You don’t have to pay a coach too much to go 6-6 and 7-5 on a regular basis (which is all that Rhule has done so far). The schedule is practically set up to achieve just that with just a little bit of effort.
He actually hasn’t done that so far. He may not this year or next either.

For those wanting Rhule gone. If we don't have donors who will pony up for a 40 million dollar roster, do you expect donors to pick up 56 million in a buyout scenario?

I'm disappointed with Friday, but I don't think it's scrap and start over time.
College football is such a **** show these days. I don’t think there’s any reason to expect we will be really good in football again unless we stumble upon a coach like Indiana did. They are a major outlier. Everyone else is looking around and trying to figure out what’s going on.

Even the really good programs historically like LSU and Texas are struggling against mediocre teams. Cant block, quarterback can’t pass, defense can’t tackle, yada yada yada. And these are highly compensated players with outstanding recruiting grades. Lower expectations everyone. Allow your coach to pump straight hopium into your veins. Ask for refills on your Kool-Aid.

No big name coach will consider the school with no recruiting base, that hasn’t won anything in over 20 years and boosters are too cheap to spend at an elite level due to “optics” to be better than the jobs I listed above
Well, I guess the question is, who is a 'big name" coach?

If I am a big name coach and a lame school like Indiana is offering me the same exact deal as say, LSU, I am taking the Indiana job. This is not the old days, 12 (and soon to be 16 or more) teams make the playoffs now and have a chance to win it all.

Now some of that will have to do with the cool stuff those schools have as well, where I am guessing Indiana might be far behind but I really don't know.

Indiana has two billionaire boosters.

2 billionaire boosters is pressure, but nothing like the pressure in Lincoln or State College or Tallahassee or Gainsville or, the list goes on.

Indiana and Cignetti struck gold. As 69 says, "where is the pressure?"

Exactly. There is no local media that cover Hoosier football and if they do they are not asking tough questions. There is no local radio shows that cover Hoosier FB 12+ hours per day.

The students go to the games to party.

Everyone has different views as to what went wrong in this game but for me I saw red flags as soon as the media started putting Matt Rhule's name out there on the list for Penn State and Matt Rhule didn't do anything to really put it down. We're not talking about men playing sports here at Nebraska we're talking about some kids who are still in their teen's, many seem to think we just march them out each week and they perform without emotion.

This was a train wreck just waiting to happen and even the coaches during the post game interviews did their best spins without really telling what really went down during the week. I really don't know what's going to happen with this team going forward whether Rhule can get this team back under control or he loses them all together, we'll find out after our next game. Like it or not Matt Rhule screwed up big time and he knows it.

Once they have a significant run of success, the pressure will mount, but Cignetti is only a year younger than me. If he continues at same pace next 5 years, he retires, a statue is built, and suddenly that pressure begins for whomever comes next.

It was seen as a dangerous game before Franklin was fired.

I would not be surprised if Penn State still offers the job to Rhule if he can win 7 or 8 this year. It is still hard to recruit to the north and there isn't a lot of talent in the NE...the FSU, Florida, UCLA jobs will just be more pleasant. That gets down to their likely 3 or 4th option..and Rhule is in the top 5 for PSU for sure. I mean NU hired Reilly, who was about to be fired at Oregon state to replace a very successful coach. A guy who hadn't won anything to replace a guy who was being fired for not winning anything.
New Jersey area actually has quite a few good football players to recruit.

Yeah, I agree. There will be pressure for the next guy but even 7 years of a great run at Indiana won't turn them into a crazed FB school. But it will be different.

It is entirely possible to convince Rhule that he needs to manage the team with a certain NIL number.. convincing him to follow actual prior success at Nebraska is going to be hard, but I do think he could be convinced to run a different offensive identity. It's probably unlikely, but I do think it's possible.

Rhule would have to start with a new OC who really understands the old school run game. Have to hire assistants to support that vision, and change the recruiting message, but I think Rhule could do all that and be successful.

Someone needs to start having these conversations with Matt. He's either going to bolt this year, or he starts making changes (and extending his time) by having the AD insert and force some changes upon the head coach.

rhule can make up for the Penn State drama/minn defeat by beating nw and usc and putting us back on track for 9 wins..both are home games.

he just needs to apply pressure on himself, his coaches and the players to do so..and stay away from the media circus..his weekly husker show with that husker sports lady...and his press conferance will suffice....he don't need to be out talking about nil with finebalm..or whoever..

wins make Nebraska more visible to recruits then talking in the media, winning on tv on Saturday (and Friday), going to big 10 champ games, or playoffs suffices.

That's exactly what happened last year when we were in our second half collapse. Dannen had made it clear to Matt that NU needed to go to a bowl because he was going to be asking a lot of people for money. That's when they brought in Dana and beat a pathetic Wisconsin team and celebrated like we had just won the Super Bowl.

I think its very likely that Dannen knows the shortcomings in the coaching situation and will impose his will on Matt in order to salvage whatever money can now be begged for. Other than the high dollar head coaches, nowadays all position coaches and coordinators are expendable if they are considered part of the problem. The ability to raise money trumps everything.

I believe you have your Husker “red glasses” on in your analysis. Mn had better o-line and d-line than Nebraska. That’s where games are generally won (or lost), so no amount of additional focus the prior week was going to really help Nebraska win that match-up. I’ve also been impressed with MN’s young QB this season…he throws a good ball and doesn’t get too easily flustered.
Minn hasnt broke 60 rushing yards as a team in the previous 3 weeks....Our trenches have issues, but we were more talented than Minnesota at absolutely every level on both sides of the ball. At least 15 of 22 positions we are better.

This was a coaching and preparation issue....

I can remember way back to the early to mid-sixties when you went to the mountains you were away from it all. My family and a couple of other families would always go up on weekends to our friends' cabin outside Tahoe City, California. The memory that sticks out most of the dads is they were constantly messing around with the rabbit ears trying to get a clearer picture of a game they were watching on TV. I think most games were viewed in fuzzy shades of grey.

First Rounders since 2015......considering the population of the Northeast and the number of teams that might look there...including the entire big 10, there just isn't much talent. There are four Nebraskas of population in Long Island alone and they aren't in the top 10 for top talent.
