If Delbert or Gunn primaried Tater, how big of a landslide would it be it be for either of the two vs slimmer Peter Griffin?

Apropos of that question, the main reason I'm surprised that Jim Hood didn't beat Tater is that Shawn O'Hara got almost 40 percent of the vote against him in 2007.

I think both of them believe that buster brown is effectively sidelined as a weak *** governor. Make no mistake, the Lt Gov and Speaker run state govt. Delbert is in the most powerful position in state govt. And he’s ancient.

The Governor’s office, no matter who is occupying it, has very little power in Mississippi.... Legislature made sure of that Decades ago.

"ID to vote" in MS is a very loose term considering a utility bill, SS card, Medicare card, Medicaid card, pay stub, W2 form, bank statement are all considered "ID".

I think the governor's office is a good bit more powerful than a lot of people think it is. Others have mentioned Barbour and Winter, but Bryant exerted a good bit of power when he was in office too.

Haley was the exception

Haley was an exception, but the governor is more powerful because it gets to dole out so much grant money. They have hamstrung the Tot some on this with the GOMESA money and then the CARES act funds. Bryant had a sweetheart time. Tatertot was just about as powerful as Bryant with his stranglehold on the Senate, but at least Bryant got to make grant decisions unmolested by the legislature while Tate had to deal with Gunn.

In Mississippi the legislature does have a lot of power passing legislation and appropriating funds. The governor can have a major impact thru the agencies that they directly control and by their appointments to boards and commissions. However the last couple governors couldn’t care less about any of those agencies. They let 20 something year olds on their staff run those agencies.

my precinct requires DL (or at least asks for it). Not sure what they'd say if I said no...

if you say you don't have a photo ID all you have to do is fill out an affadavit saying you swear you are who you are. Pinky promise and cross my heart.

Let's not forget that Bryant also personally hand picked one of our senators for probably the next 20 years or so too.

Holy **** I hope not. That might have been the worst 17ing thing Bryant did, which is saying something considering spent 8 years using a fake country *** accent (as if his actual accent isn't country enough) whenever he was talking to a general group of Mississippians. Really grating to listen to him talk to say out of state business prospects and then listen to him give a speech in Mississippi.

She's 61, so let's hope she will just retire and we don't have to primary her.

I handed the little old lady who has worked my polling place since before she stopped working as a maid for an established family in my community my conceal carry permit. Didn't faze her in the least. Took it, scanned it, handed it back to me, and winked.

And, then, haul your *** up to the Circuit Clerk's office within 5 days after the election and produce your valid ID. Otherwise, your affidavit ballot does not get included in the official results.

She and Wicker basket are in until they don't want to be. Then whoever the governor is at that time will choose us a new one.

It's called a provisional ballot and it gets compared to registration information before being counted. It's just as secure.

According to what I found by searching, in Alabama a photo ID is required. I would think Mississippi is very similar if not identical. If you don't have one, you can vote provisionally but then have (I think) 5 days to come up with a proper photo ID or your vote is not approved. A photo ID is very easy to get, as it should be.

That's been in effect for several years, since 2014. Before that, some of the crazier ID methods (such as a utility bill) were acceptable.

Yeah, it was a terrible appointment. But the history of senators in general and especially in Mississippi is that she's pretty much in there for life.

Reading comprehension is your problem not mine.

It seems many in that thread were confused. I wasn't individually calling you out for misinterpreting the release.

I understand you may need to lash out right now- you are feeling directionless without Q and all the insane conspiracies to grasp to. Gotta find other conspiracies to fill that void.
