Is it time for Cal to move on? He’s now getting regularly beat at his own game. Maybe we would be better suited with someone else at the helm. Holtman, Donovan, Archie Miller, etc. I appreciate what Cal has done, but maybe it would be a good move for all parties.

No! But I think it’s time for some assistants to move on.
Penny has former NBA coach of the year Sam Mitchell as an assistant and former long time NBA player Mike Miller.
The elite recruits are all about the NBA and if they win a NC in college that’s icing on the cake.
We need assistants they can tell them what it’s like to play in the NBA.

Gotta get your post # up before you ask any "serious questions".
Not really sure what amount of posts have to do with anything, I was just asking a question that I’m sure others have had. By the way, I’d be willing to bet I’ve forgotten more basketball than you’ll ever know. I just don’t always post about it

You proved that isn't true when you mentioned Archie Miller.

Hey, little hoosierboy you better hope that UK doesn't want to hire Archie Miller. Because if Kentucky offers him the UK job. Your hoosiers will be minus a coach

I believe there is a nonzero probability that schools are now paying for top 5 talent. Former Cal UK players have current NBA contracts totaling more than any other program or coach by a long shot. What else would make a Memphis more alluring than a UK? Sure, Memohis now have NBA and AAU DNA in their program, but Cal’s track record for NBA placement is unsurpassed. Just the same, I’d rather we run a clean program than pay for top 5 talent, assuming other programs are paying.

The level of arrogance and entitlement is mind blowing. Cal has had no worse than the #2 recruiting class every season that he has been here. He has fielded team every year with the possible exception of one or two that achieved or had a legit chance to achieve a final four. Duke and UK have clearly became the top two basketball programs in the country.

Anyone that cannot see this needs to go back and relive a Tubby or BCG season. This is a classic overreaction because Duke blew us out, our team doesn't look to be quite as good as we had hoped this year, and we just missed on a recruit. Calm down, we will be okay. I'm still with Cal!

A two post troll wondering, or should I say hoping, that Cal moves on. Guess you are tired of him kicking your Cardinal tail, year in and year out. And you said this was a serious question. [roll]

JUMP Please, seriously? What are Maxey and Whitney ? Chopped liver? Don't get me wrong, Wiseman WILL be good. Is he going to a first team AA? POY? I don't think he will his freshman year. He is really good, but AD good? Nope.. Cal wanted him because he is a missing piece for next yr team. Next one up! Good luck to him

It has everything to do with it. If you came here to make a thread about a ridiculous topic and this be your first or second post, most regular posters view that as trolling. It screams, "look at me." You may know about basketball, you have no damn clue to message boards however.

Cal doesn't need to go anywhere. He does have to make staff changes and ditch the tired pitch he uses with recruits. It's not working. If it works you can say anything but we've heard:

1. UK isn't for everyone

2. Player X is a guy everyone wants to play with--and then nobody else joins his class

3. Want to get numbers, don't come here (which is not true but it's stupid to say anyways)

4. He's always "surprised" when he sees a player he has signed. Seems he's not doing his homework or getting bad advice. For instance Dontaie Allen is a good player, but Cal stating last week "he's a kid who can play above the rim". That's not his game at all. He's a shooter and really nice fit for 4 year role player, but he's not an explosive athlete at all.

The fact this current team has 3 FR who chose other programs initially only to have UK have to scrape to get options they didn't initially want (Herro, Hagans, and Montgomery) speaks to a slump in recruiting. Doesn't mean these are bad players either but it's the reality of what happened. The chaos of the Tschiebwe recruitment. UK had that kid ready to commit and then went for some odd chase to get involved with a kid they had/have little chance to land in Isaiah Stewart. So instead of getting the guy who wanted to come, you try and get cute and screw up a recruitment. It's too scattered and like the staff is afraid to pull the trigger.

There is still a chance we sign Mcdaniels, he and Whitney are projected higher than Wiseman now. We get that one player and we are back on top of recruiting and the rankings next year!

I want Cal to stay as long as he wants. However, I wouldn't mind some staff changes. I want a brilliant x and o guy ( Tubby was pretty good in his prime) a solid guy with recruiting connections and then maybe a solid shooting coach. I could even go with one awesome offensive of coach and one defensive. I think Cal is a great coach, marketer and recruiter. He is the perfect fit here, I just think he could use some of those things to help him. He can't do all the recruiting and developing on his own. There are consistent weaknesses in our teams, with the right support staff we would get better. That said, I have no idea what benefits our current assistant coaches bring. However, I want us to be ready when K retires. With the right staff, we could pass UCLA in titles. Then when Cal retires, we can pick any coach we want.
