Ugh, that quote is a complete encapsulation of what’s wrong with the NBA. An able-bodied, multi talented PF only cares about shooting 3’s in order to stay relevant.
Or, playing with Luka and Reeves, Sandro is going to get multiple open 3 opportunities a game that he has to knock down at a good percentage. Otherwise, he will not be on the floor to use the rest of his offensive skills.
Great to see the great Gerald Greene. That tweak made the 88 team go and headed us to the stars a year later.

SETON HALL STAR - ED SADOWSKI
It's always good to wear Seton Hall attire as you never know what other Pirate fans you may run into. I just got home from a vacation in Alaska and while there I was approached by a fellow tourist who tells me that his uncle Ed Sadowski was the starting Center for the 1939-40 undefeated Pirate team. Our only undefeated team at 19-0. This team also included Bobby Davies. The Pirates did not get a tournament bid that year as both the NCAA & NIT only had 4 teams each back then. The following year the Pirates streak continued to 43 straight wins (a then NCAA record) before losing to LIU in the NIT.
After playing college ball Sadowski turned pro playing in the BAA (now the NBA). He was named Rookie of the year averaging 19.4 ppg while playing for Detroit & Ft Wayne. After WW2 with expansion teams popping up Ed was the first player signed by the Boston Celtics. He was named first team all league. For his career he averaged 15.6 ppg. He played 4 years in the BAA/NBA including some years with the Phillie Warriors. His coach with the Celtics was Honey Russell.

It is always great to have another Pirate say hi when they see my shirt or hat. Forgive me if I told this already. In Shoprite about a month ago, cart filled up, I pass a guy, musta been in his upper 80s, also pushing a cart. He sees my shirt, steps away from his cart, sees he has my attn, and grows me an imaginary bounce pass, which I caught and shot a jumper. Great memory.
He was the only player in college last year that played 500+ minutes who had an offensive rebounding rate and a blocked shot rate both over 15%.
Most scouts use Analytics over traditional stats. Analytics use rates (percentages) over per game averages. Per game averages are skewed by minutes played and opportunities. By using rates, they measure how many opportunities did a player have to get an offensive rebound instead of he averaged 2.4 offensive rebounds per game. Of all the missed shots the Pirates took when he was on the floor, he got an offensive rebound on 15.3% of those opportunities which ranked 19th in the Nation.
Same with Blocks, instead of using his 2.2 Blocks per game average, they measure how many shots did opposing teams take while he was on the floor and how many did he block. He swatted 16.4% of all shots while he was on the floor which was 2nd in the Nation.
So the analytics say he was elite at Blocking Shots and getting Offensive rebounds and no one in college ranked so highly in both categories.

The NBA talent level is insane and to be on the floor you have to do multiple things very well. Sandro D is a liability so he needs to shoot 3s and have a great floor game.
ugh, the NBA talent level is the absolute worst it’s been since the 1950’s. You can’t possibly be fooled by all the carrying, palming, traveling, up and downs and illegal screens? They can shoot 3’s? Wow cool. They literally can’t do anything else.
75% of these guys would be CLUELESS on what to do if the rules were called as described.
The PPL Center is actually a very good venue for basketball. Seats about 8,500, modern arena with good sight lines and concessions. Villanova and PSU have played games there. The Flyers minor league team LV Phantoms play there and draw very well. Downside is Allentown has a similar Newark issue. Center City and surrounding blocks have been redeveloped but driving in from 22 or 78 requires a 10-15 minute drive going through some sketchy areas.
