The only hesitation if they truly think there is a chance of a snub, obviously its tough to have a big event. A win over Michigan would put those fears to rest

When you look at the conference tourney brackets, the math just isn’t there for many realistic scenarios where RU could be left out. So many bubble teams are lined up to play each other. The losers can not possibly pass RU in the pecking order. It would take an unprecedented number of non-contenders claiming bids in multiple bid conferences.

he corona thing is stripping everyone of life experiences (or for some just living their life out, period) while it still is very unknown and quite frankly statistically miniscule existence in the US so far.

I dont disagree with your comment but I would still be shocked if RU creates an unscheduled large group meeting at this point.

With that said, last high school game on Sunday ends at 6PM which is the scheduled start of the selection show. How about mobbing the high school game and getting RU to put the selection show on the big screen. Support NJ High school basketball showing recruits what staying home would look like and watch the selection show together.

Public message lol. Not when the States are played there every year. Like someone said it didn't matter the past 29 years.

You're trying way too hard to find something that didn't exist.
Lol back at you.
It always mattered out there in the universe.
It’s just many of us saw other things worse and didn’t notice. Why is it so hard to acknowledge that the athletic department is in error here.

If the team is back here it should obviously be in the new practice building...it's their place a good way to show off the facility.

I like the idea too of showing it on the big screen on College Ave. Another good "look" to show off something new at Rutgers.

Also like the idea of it being shown on the scoreboard during the HS game(s). If it can be live, great. If not, during a timeout would look pretty cool too.

And as I have said already if only certain people will be allowed in the room to view...we know who that should be.

I doubt the basketball world gives it a second's thought. It may be you're projecting just a wee bit.

It's hard to recognize because there's nothing to recognize.

The corona thing is stripping everyone of life experiences (or for some just living their life out, period) while it still is very unknown and quite frankly statistically miniscule existence in the US so far. The fear of the potential is what is driving everyone crazy, but facts and reasons say using some precaution and self care should be MORE than enough at the current moment. The media reporting each of the ~15 confirmed (not even sure if its that many yet) cases in the tri-state area as if they are catastrophic events. You are more likely to die driving to the event than to even contract corona at the moment. Nevermind the host of other illnesses that exist in the world that we have learned to live with.
What you post makes a lot of sense, but that's not how things are trending unfortunately.

I don't understand why people are acting like The RAC is the only place that can hold a gathering of people. There are plenty of other places on campus to hold a good sized event (which they should want to do). Honestly, emailing Hobbs probably isn't the worst idea.

I know . And it terrifies me with all the talk of shutting down schools, no fans at NBA (or other events), mandated work from homes from nearly all large and small corporations. Its crazy what we are on the brink of. Essentially shutting the world down for 2-5 weeks ?! Unthinkable. And the damage will be significant if we did that.

And in my non-doctorated medical view, appears completely out of fear and an over reaction of precaution. I actually do think this is a product of the "liability" world we live in now. Where organizations don't want to be seen liable for putting people at risk for fear of the financial and social repercussions.

i literally came to the board today to see if someone had started a thread on this. I would happily come down from NYC to share in the joy of seeing us pop up on a screen as the 8/9 seed if RU holds something, and I think they should 1000 percent do it. and WHEN the team is in indy on sunday (as someone alluded to in this thread), it will be even cooler haha. who am i kidding, lets get thru michigan first.

Isn't there a chance Cliff Omoruyi is playing in the game at the RAC on Sunday? We should pack the place and hang around for the selection show.

If I was a betting man, I’d bet my life savings that they have the team inside the APC that night. Will spectators be allowed? My guess is no.

This is what was said during the tours of the APC last month.

Even showed the room where they will gather.

I think Sunday is all public schools. Cliff plays for Roselle Catholic

Weather for Sunday calls for Partly Cloudy, high of 50, low of 34. No chance of rain. They could easily do something outdoors.

Having HS bball state championships is a really great use of the RAC. Everyone here would (should) always agree on that. Builds the RU brand into the fabric of NJ high schools, which we need more of.

There are TONS of other places on campus that they could host a selection sunday watch party. Just a matter of how big they would want it, they could do The Barn, the APC, Audi Club, Rutgers Club on Livi, any lecture hall that fits about 400+ people, outdoor at The Yard, etc. etc.
Exactly. The idea that an entire weekend of building the brand among high school athletes and coaches so that we can have the RAC all to ourselves for two hours is silly. There are plenty of other places on campus where we can (and no doubt will) happily watch the tourny selections. The Barn, the Yard, Livingston gym, the Audi Club, and probably a few others I'm unaware of. How cool would it be if on the day the top high school teams are playing on campus, we are selected for our first tourny in 29 years? Let the branding continue, and let the complaining diminish.
