Any chance that Rutgers opens the RAC to the public for a selection show party. I think it would be awesome to have the fans be able to celebrate this achievement as the team returns from the Big Ten tournament

Maybe the lobby of the new RWJ Barnabus practice facility. Beautiful space and we could probably fit 500-1000 people.

Although that may take too much work to pull off at the last minute.

Zero percent chance. They are hosting the NJSAA Group Basketball finals all day.

This wasn't a "mistake". A mistake would be if they knew they would need a place for Sunday but scheduled the HS Championships at the RAC anyway. I don't remember even the biggest fans predicting Sunday would be of interest to Rutgers.

Just more find a reason to complain or someone to blame.

If I was a betting man, I’d bet my life savings that they have the team inside the APC that night. Will spectators be allowed? My guess is no.

It would be an awful job by Hobbs and a total misread on the fanbase who has waited 29 years. We have a core of loyal fans who endured losing. We have incredible student support. If the school can't figure out an event that schools around the country can pull off.....

The only hesitation if they truly think there is a chance of a snub, obviously its tough to have a big event. A win over Michigan would put those fears to rest

People should email Hobbs and express the demand for an event. The fans showed up huge this year for this team. 18-1 with the support of the people who have sat through disappointment after disappointment for years. It also like noted above should be something not only open the uber wealthy.

Why not have a camera on the players in the lounge at the APC, and another camera with students/fans gathering at The Yard or The Barn (if avail)? This way, you get a shot of the players reaction and then cut to the insanity of students/fans going nuts. Can even do a split screen at the same time. Would be a great look.

If the RAC was available (it's obviously not) I think you'd get a couple thousand fans there to watch the selection show. There's more than enough people within 15-20 minutes of the RAC that would have made it worth hosting an event.

Some fans did. You just don't schedule this way.

I'm a worrier. I wouldn't schedule anything at this point.

But Rutgers makes it so easy when they continuously get out of their own way. If it wasn't this, it would be something else.

But you still want the best high school players in the state to have exposure to your arena. Rutgers doesn't get to pick the date of the NJSIAA finals. Have the selection show at SHI stadium

Having HS bball state championships is a really great use of the RAC. Everyone here would (should) always agree on that. Builds the RU brand into the fabric of NJ high schools, which we need more of.

There are TONS of other places on campus that they could host a selection sunday watch party. Just a matter of how big they would want it, they could do The Barn, the APC, Audi Club, Rutgers Club on Livi, any lecture hall that fits about 400+ people, outdoor at The Yard, etc. etc.

again...I think it comes down to beating Michigan. Personally I think RU is 99% in but if that one percent happens and you have a big event and the name doesnt get called it going to be an awful situation. Beat Michigan and we dont have to worry about that so Im thinking it comes down to that game.

SMU had a huge event in 2014 and got snubbed although their sos was pretty bad.

couldn't agree more with Scarlet kid...the Yard and RWJ split screen is the way to go...losing the state games would be short-sighted.

No it is also a public message that you don’t expect to be included. It’s not a hanging offense. It is nevertheless a mistake.

Public message lol. Not when the States are played there every year. Like someone said it didn't matter the past 29 years.

You're trying way too hard to find something that didn't exist.

With all the covid-19 talk of limiting large gatherings, switching classes to online and the NCAA considering the tourney without fans in attendance, I can not imagine them scheduling anything indoors that is not already booked.

The corona thing is stripping everyone of life experiences (or for some just living their life out, period) while it still is very unknown and quite frankly statistically miniscule existence in the US so far. The fear of the potential is what is driving everyone crazy, but facts and reasons say using some precaution and self care should be MORE than enough at the current moment. The media reporting each of the ~15 confirmed (not even sure if its that many yet) cases in the tri-state area as if they are catastrophic events. You are more likely to die driving to the event than to even contract corona at the moment. Nevermind the host of other illnesses that exist in the world that we have learned to live with.
