Seems like 8-4 is our new baseline

OU is bad. Auburn and Vandy are decent, and both appear to be well coached, but neither is on the level of Mizzou. So, we should be solid favorites at home in all 3 of those games.

We’re going to be solid underdogs against Texas, Bama, and LSU. Egg Bowl is as much of a tossup as its been since Leach passed, but its in Oxford so its hard to not see us being at least a 3-5 point underdog in that one.

I think if we find a way to win 2 of 4 against Bama, Texas, LSU, Ole Miss, we’re in the CFP. If we were a blue blood, we might get the benefit of the doubt at 9-3, but I don’t see it happening for us. Even Texas didn’t make ot last year at 9-3.

We got banged up a little last night and I am worried about health. Bama is going to be another hard-hitting game. Who will be available next Saturday. It didn't look good for Smith. The ankles with KT and Fluss is a little worrisome. I imagine the trainer will get those ready to go.

I don’t think anyone’s getting into the playoff at 9-3. You can get in with 3 losses if you play in SECCG.

as for our baseline, I think losses to lsu, bama, win 1 out of Oklahoma, A&M, Texas & Mississippi, beat Vandy, Auburn & TN-Martin. So that 8-4. Key is going to be injuries. We have to avoid any more injuries.

I still worry that we will have an otherwise should win game wrecked by a good edge rusher. Hopkins got 3.5 sacks against us? I don't think he's going to be the best edge rusher we face. We're going to have to run the ball on Ole Miss because it seems like they can get good pressure even if they aren't great against the run. I think outside of Ole Miss, most of those problems are going to be in games we will be solid dogs in anyway.

Generally agree, but both Texas and Vandy were very close last year.
Texas & Vandy were 3rd & 4th teams out. You can make an argument maybe Texas deserved to be in. But I just don’t see the committee giving even a deserving 9-3 team a bid.

I’m just saying not every year will be like last year. There will be years where there are a ton of 9-3 type teams that they have to sort out.

Yeah, last year was unusual in terms of teams with good records. There will definitely be 9-3 teams some years. Looking back at AP polls before the bowl games shows a lot of 3 loss teams coming in 8-12

Yea, I think generally a certain number of Big10 and SEC teams are going to make it. If the SEC or Big10 has a weird year where there is one dominant team and a lot of 9-3 teams, then a 9-3 team will make it.
