SECT bracket set-up is decent for State women....

Two of the three SEC teams that beat us on the other side as well as AU who we struggled mightily with for some reason. Both potential friday opponents slumped down the stretch but prolly draw LSU. Beat em by 4 in the hump in a hold-on type game up up 13 in Q4. Set up for a revenge match with UK in the semis. If we can get to Sunday who knows? We gave USC all they wanted at their place. Maybe we can return the favor on them like they did us in Nashville in 2018.

We could be playing Florida, LSU has really struggled since Mitchell got hurt. They were in prime position to finish 3rd in the league until that happened.

A rematch with Kentucky would be fun. It would be a great barometer for how much we’ve improved since we last played them.

Well the only chance I see for such a loss, record wise anyway, is the next one if we play UF. We hung 46 on em in the hump.

Staley is currently massaging the feet of her three hand selected refs. Expect SC to be the first school in the modern era to win 3 games without committing a single foul.

We are probably 1 bad loss from losing a host position in the first 2 rounds of the NCAA

I don't see us losing a host spot, especially with the fans we draw, but if somehow falling to a 4 would keep us out of 17'n Portland, I'm all for it.

I don’t see the committee sending us back to Portland. But it’s important to stay on the 2 or 3 line just to avoid having to play the 1 seed until the Elite Eight. Ideal set up would be ending up in the Fort Wayne regional with Maryland and Louisville. I think we can beat those teams with a good performance, and they wouldn’t have home court like the other three 1 seeds will.

Dee Kantner is home polishing up her 'Gamecock bailout' whistle as we speak.

I haven't spent any time analyzing this, but if memory serves there's an issue with keeping conference teams from facing off in the Sweet 16.

The current projected 2 and 3 seeds present some matchup issues with UCLA & Stanford, Iowa & Northwestern, and Louisville & NC State. We'll see how it shakes out.

We are hosting. I feel like you can take that to the bank, even if we play Florida and lose to them. We are solidly a 3 seed right now, 4 seed is our floor, 2 is our ceiling if we can find a way to win the tournament.

Ideal scenario is to be playing in Fort Wayne or Dallas, in my opinion. Seeding doesn’t matter so much, I just think SC and Oregon are the two best teams and we would have very little shot at beating them at that stage in de facto road games.

I agree on the seeding floor and ceiling.

I would throw Baylor in there as a team I'd rather not see. I'd rather play SC. We know we can compete with them.

Baylor has never lost a game when Cox was able to go the majority of the game. They can really grind you down when they're on their game.

Maryland is who you want to see in your bracket, but that's doubtful for State.

So.....winning the SEC tournament is a yes (in greenville vs. SC), but facing SC in greenville in an elite 8 match up is little shot?

I don’t think we beat them in the SEC Tourney either. Hope I’m wrong, but this feels like 2017 where they were simply better than us. Even that year we played them to the wire in Columbia and Bre Richardson should’ve had free throws to win it late but the refs missed an obvious hacking. The next two games were not as close. Kinda think that’s the situation again this year.

Dallas would give the best fan support for us. 8 hour drive from Jackson. Plus we have a lot of alumni in Texas.

Based on the seeding released by the committee last night that’s exactly where they have us currently, with Baylor as the 1 and Stanford as the 2. That’s a winnable Regional.

Fort Wayne would be the other one I’d be interested in with Maryland and Louisville, though we obviously would be farther away from home.
