Just when you think things were spiraling out of control for NU...they were down 29-19, getting into foul trouble, turning the ball over...they went on an 11-0 run to take a 30-20 lead. AJ Turner provided a spark with five points, including a 3, and IU turned the ball over four times during the stretch. The Cats lead 34-31 at the break.
NU's zone is really harassing the Hoosiers, who cooled off after a hot-shooting start. NU's offense has been pretty damn good. Spencer has 10 points and three assists to lead the way and he is consistently attacking the rim, even if, as Seth Davis pointed out, he doesn't always know what he's doing to do. Kopp has 7 but they all came in the first three-plus minutes, Young has six and Turner has five off the bench.
Two bummers in the first half: Pete Nance, who is 0-4 and picked up three fouls, and the foul situation in general. NU has nine fouls and IU has an 8-4 edge in free throws. They can't afford to get into foul trouble with only eight guys available.
Still, this was a great half for NU. This is the first time I've seen Indiana for any length of time and they are surprisingly meh.
