No pregame or halftime shows.

I never thought "Another T" would be a casualty of 2020.

That’s pretty darn stupid... they have been practicing together for 2-3 weeks already.

Waay easier to distance on the field than anywhere else. It does get pretty crowded on the sideline before/after. Maybe that's what they are concerned about? Seems like you could mitigate that, though.

That was my first thought also - more distancing on the field than in their seats in the stands. Things will be different all around though, with 80% fewer fans in the stands. The sidelines might not be as crowded for the band. Will there even be cheerleaders?

It's ok to tackle dudes from the other team but you can't walk with a snare drum or toot your trumpet?

Makes sense with 25% crowds and a lot of spit on those band instruments.

They need to cut halftime down to 12 minutes like the NFL. That would shave 8 minutes off game time.

Never thought about it, but Covid probably rushes out the bell of a trumpet or trombone.

These games are going to be as fun as a prostate exam.

Probably about 10,000 fans in a 60,000 seat stadium. No tailgating. Wearing a mask in sweltering heat. No band to add to the atmosphere of being at a college game. Almost certain to be bombarded by BLM commercials on the Jumbotron. A team that is probably too busy trying to figure out what to boycott next than learning the playbook.

Hey but we will have $6 cups of hot beer cups that smell like *** and cause you to make numerous trips to the Templeton trough and get your shoes pissed on by someone who is not social distancing.

And dies in the UV light. Nevermind the band is on the field away from everyone. I'm assuming they can still play in the stands, which is worse. Just more mind numbing dumbassery by "leaders".

Much like getting a haircut and going to a bar, marching around with a tuba is known to be a COVID super-spreader***.

The people coming up with these rules make me think about a guy, blindfolded, trying to swat a pinata. Gotta do something so just swing away.

The logic behind what's allowed and what's not went out the window along time ago in this covid world.

There actually is some logic behind it. Singing has been very heavily implicated in many super spreader events, especially at churches. Blowing on an instrument would do tthe same thing on steroids. It's probabaly worse than heavy athletic breathing. There is science behind that.

It would be interesting to see some vapor patterns, maybe like a Schlieran photo, of what comes out of things like trumpets and trombones. They're probably pretty spectacular looking. About the only safe instrument would be drums.

I believe they are going to allow pep band size bands in the stands.

The decision to not allow them to do pre-game and halftime shows on the field is the SEC’s attempt to make field a “bubble.” Anyone having field access has to be under SEC testing protocol (3 times a week), including chain gang, etc. They are also not allowing media and photographers, instead using university photographers that will provide pool photos.

One thing we should celebrate is no on field sponsor presentations, etc

Why not? The common sense runs extremely low these days.

We can put players on the field where they pile up but the band who will never be in a pile can't play?

Make it friggin stop
