Well...at least you're waiting until the game is over before you gloat about the loss. There is a guy on the UK board who keeps starting threads about ACC teams being down, and in each case, they have come back and won.

Only gloating I'm doing is how many fools.... I repeat fools had there bracket busted because they put Vandy winning. At what point did Vandy do anything this season? My coworkers penciled Vandy because they play in the sec.....and I laughed that was Monday morning!!!!

Wouldn't mind seeing them exposing Gonzaga. You think they got it in them?

Vandy is cursed, they always lose in first round, no matter how good or bad......

What?!? A 9-seed lost to an 8-seed?!? By two points?!? In the final minute?!? What a terrible team they must be!

Calling someone a fool for picking Vandy to win on "there" bracket is a little excessive. fivethirtyeight actually had Vandy as a slight favorite going into the game.

Vandy had the game won and were up 1 point and for some reason one of their players fouled intentionally to put Northwestern at the free throw line which ultimately lost them the game.

I felt really bad for the kid. It was one of those "Weber calls timeout...with no timeouts" circumstances. Just a very unfortunate mistake. I was really hoping he would hit a last second shot, if only to take that monkey off his back.

I won't go as far to say I wanted that kid to win the game for Vandy because I was rooting for Northwestern since they had never even been to the tourney before, but I do feel bad for him. That bone headed foul will haunt him for the rest of his life whenver he thinks about it. That's OK though. It'll make him stronger in the end.

Im well aware how they lost.

Doesnt matter. They were garbage and stole a bid for the 2nd consecutive yr.
Karma.
Should have never received an at large bid.

They loss FIFTEEN games now SIXTEEN.
Easy money plus them being a SEC team.

They played well and proved they deserved to be there, regardless of what you think with anti-SEC bias.

You could make the same argument for any team that gets beat opening round that received an at large bid.

They proved nothing.

Your season is how you EARN an at large invitation.
A 15 loss team with an # 9 seed. Is this a joke ?

You can continue to cape for the garbage conference BKA as the SEC.
I'll set you straight every time.

I agree with you. I feel terrible for the kid. I couldn't imagine having that mistake on my shoulders for most of the near future. He'll actually never forget it for the rest of his life.

As far as vandy goes, they deserve all of the trash talk they get. People (like myself) said they shouldn't have even made the tournament. Their fans said they did because they had a good strength of schedule. What difference does a tough strength of schedule make IF YOU LOSE 15 GAMES!!?!?!

You're not going to set me straight on anything. I don't defend the SEC ever. I challenge you to find a post where I defend the conference. Had that kid not fouled and they won the game you wouldn't have any ground to stand on. It was a weak bubble year. Hell, Syracuse was literally the first team out and they won two road games ALL YEAR.

So a team that is rated #33 in KenPom Ratings and had one of the toughest schedules in the country "stole" a bid? All but 5 of those losses came against tournament teams. No one here is disputing that the SEC is anything compared to the ACC, but to say that Vandy didn't deserve to be there is a joke. Losing by two in the final minute proved to me that Vandy deserved a bid. Were they seeded a little high? Possibly, but no unbiased observer would say they stole a bid.

15 losses is 15 losses and if you want to make a case for them that's fine but a 9 seed with 15 losses? Seems to me they should have been in the play in game as an 11 seed instead if you were going to reward them with a bid. They were overseeded IMO.

We can definitely agree on that. I was very surprised at the 9 seed. I fully expected a play-in 11 seed. I think the Committee gave too much weight to the three wins over Florida when they did the seeding.

See folks playin in cupcake conference doesn't help in the tourney!!!
Huh? They lost an 8/9 game by a couple points and actually had the game won.
Who are all these people that had Vandy winning? Are you saying these people had Vandy winning one game, or the whole West region?
If you're talking about the people that had them beating Northwesten, which I believe you are, why are you acting like they were some fraud? It's not like they lost by 30.
Wake Forest lost in the play in Game, but nobody is saying they were a fraud, it's a tossup game.

I can get behind that. That's actually where I expected them to be.

Good one, I guess. They don't play Saturday, but half the teams don't make it past the first game. Losing in and of itself is not an indicator of worthiness to play the game. Like I said above, I agree they were over-seeded, but they did enough in a weak bubble year to warrant a bid.

No butt hurt here my friend. I'm a Vandy grad, and was proud of how my team played up until the last minute.

Additionally, if you would like to reread my comments above, you'd see that I expressly admitted that the SEC was not anywhere near a top conference this season. But hey, enjoy making yourself feel better by attacking others on the internet.

I am, grew up cheering on the cats, got offered a scholarship at Vandy and chose college based on academics. Believe me, there is quite the internal struggle when the two teams play. Other than that, I cheer for both.

Gotcha.
You know Vandy has beaten UofL twice on buzzer beaters.
One, a 40 footer by Barry Goheen, and another by Chris Lawson

I actually didn't know that, but I would gladly trade those two buzzer beaters for two of those nice shiny NCAA trophies you guys have. I think they'd look pretty great with Vanderbilt written on them. And we all know the SEC could use a few more of those...
