SEC homerism is precisely what this is. It’s an absolute travesty and I hope each single member of that crooked committee gets their comeuppance. Such BS.

Does Disney still own ESPN? If so…

I understand the sentiment, but I also know the SEC to be the best conference hands down zero debate for a long time and I'm just not going to get too excited that the SEC champ got in over the ACC champ.
Acc 6-4 against the mighty sec.. In case you like facts over feelings

Yep, and FSU beat both SEC teams it faced this year (even beating LSU by a wider margin than Bama did).

This was a royal screw job, no matter how much some want to claim otherwise. The CFP committee proved today that they’re incompetent, biased, and/or corrupt. It should be disbanded.

Either selection would have been justifiable. If you want to stick it to the SEC do it on the field. Fans don’t need to live vicariously through the committee.

The SEC’s non-conference record was an acknowledged embarrassment in September, and yet conveniently forgotten in December: The league was 7–9 against Power Five competition, which includes a 4–6 record against the ACC. There were losses to Utah, BYU, Clemson, North Carolina, Miami, Wake Forest … and Florida State

I mean the hardest fact that we have about this whole situation is there is a specific line item in the selection process that deals with the situation FSU finds it in.

Sure FSU is going to get their 2nd string qb back, but if you delve at all into the numbers in football you know that it’s highly unlikely a backup qb doesn’t lead to a big drop off in performance.

Believeing that the the 2nd string guy for FSU can be a Cinderella story on demand isn’t fact based.

I think FSU ad put it well…

Said athletic director Michael Alford: “For many of us, today’s decision by the committee has forever damaged the credibility of the institution that is the College Football Playoff. And, saddest of all, it was self-inflicted. They chose predictive competitiveness over proven performance; subjectivity over fact. The have become a committee of prognosticators. They have abandoned their response slitty by discarding their purpose — to evaluate performance on the field. … The committee failed college football today.”

Well in this case. Forever is about a year.

No one is going to cry over 13 next year

So you’d vote Nebraska not to play in the 95 orange bowl against Miami, correct?

That's exactly the way it would have played out if the CFP committee was in charge of the bowl selections back then. The CFP committee is a failure.
I actually didn’t mind the old system where a bunch of people put their thumb up in the air, close one eye and said “uhhhhh those two”.

I also didn’t mind when people started calling for formalizing standards and playoffs and all that. However folks didn’t understand what they were asking for and the potential fallout of these systems. They thought we would get a bit more football and a bit less controversy.

But when you take a system that was already making a ton of money and more or less tune it to be all about money through ratings and extended gambling and mega contracts everywhere, you are not going to keep the same old football you knew or loved.

They basically wrote the rules to say well we’ll consider these handful of things but we reserve the right to put the most compelling matchups on tv. Most years this doesn’t matter, every once in a while it does and fans will just have to eat it because there was no non controversial choice this year.

According to the rules that were agreed to, either choice was justified. I would have preferred to tell the SEC to shove it, but I can also see FSU is probably not as good a team as Bama right now.

Personally I was going to be upset if they included Georgia because they don’t even have a conference title of the choices available but they dodged that bullet.

If Alabama had lost to Auburn, we might have seen that very scenario play out or maybe the SEC would have been left out in that scenario and the universe would have folded in upon itself.

FSU is 13-0 and a p5 champion.
Bama is 12-1 and a P5 champion.

Outside of that, everything else is nothing more than an opinion.

Here are my questions:

If this is truly about the “best” teams, why is Florida state ranked above Georgia?

Florida state didn’t have Travis last week, why were they ranked 4th, above Oregon, Texas and bama?

If auburn had beaten bama, would Georgia have gotten in? I venture they would have

If Georgia had beaten bama, would they have ranked Florida state above Texas? I think they would have

Imo, this was all about getting a sec team in. That’s it. That’s all they cared about and they will twist the rational and logic to make it fit their predetermined outcome. Texas is only in because they couldn’t put bama in if Texas didn’t get in. Nothing happened on the field to justify the amount of shuffling that occurred. It’s just about money. Someone at Disney/espn made a phone call and the committee had the decision made for them, not by them.

Any auburn fans should be ashamed of their team. Could have avoided this whole đź’© show if they could have stopped a 4th and goal from forever. $EC

Yes, it's all Auburn's fault. What do you expect from a team that got boat raced by New Mexico State, lol.

Naw. Same out come. Just Georgia at 4. Sec was getting a team in no matter what. Auto bid.
No one would be batting an eye today at an undefeated Georgia being selected by the CFP committee. I’m sure that’s exactly what they were hoping for. I’m also entirely sure that if Georgia had won, FSU would’ve been selected by the committee. They would have their SEC represented so there would have been no reason for them to come up with their BS excuse to “justify” screwing over FSU.

Agree completely with the second part. But if bama had beaten Georgia but lost to auburn….I think Georgia is in and fsu is still out. Truly messed up how they screw the players over without a second thought.
