We all know baseball is a streaky game, but he's definitely pulling away right now. At this rate I don't know if LSU is going to have enough post season games for Duplantis to get there.

Seems like its almost time to just remove DuPlantis from the chart and show Jake vs. record only.

This is out there, but the NCAA record is 418. There are 30 games left if I counted correctly. With a deep post season run, who knows?

Is that a Div. I record? Or all of NCAA?

Wonder how many hits his broken hand or whatever it was cost him that year.

He'll have to break the D1 season hits record of 142 to do it. That was set in an 85 game season.

Hmmm. We'll have a 55-game regular season. IF, yes IF, a team made an undefeated postseason run, you would be looking at an additional fifteen or so games. That gets us to 70.

How in the world did UCF play 85 games in a season?

NCAA used to have no limit on games played. Teams like Texas, Miami, Wichita St, & I suppose UCF used to routinely play 70-75 game seasons prior to about 1990 when the NCAA limited games to 60 per season (later reduced to 56). At the time, the SEC was an afterthought in college baseball and limited our teams to only 55 games, putting us at a severe disadvantage.

Didn't know that. Thanks.

There should be a “modern record”
and a pre-1990 record.

The NCAA record is probably safe. At this pace, the SEC record will be increased by about 10%. I don't know what you consider "obliterated", but that is a nice bump.

I wonder how many Clark and Palmeiro would have hit without a restriction on the schedule and 70 games. Easily the 30's and probably pushing 40.

According to this projection, Jake should break the SEC all time hit record during the Governor’s Cup game in Pearl vs.Ole Miss or during Georgia series at home.
Do you stop the game for a ceremony or just announce the accomplishment?

I think you at least stop the game and present him with the ball.

Ole Miss will intentionally walk him 5 straight times which will necessitate a brawl in the stands.

Considering the career he's had against them, that probably wouldn't be a bad choice for them.

Mangum needs a decent showing this weekend to break the record at home. 4 to tie, 5 to break.

Let's face it, Jake has just been waiting for me to be in attendance to break the record. I'm flattered and I'll oblige him this weekend.

I know it aint over yet but Duplantis didn't make it much of a race did he. Or at least not yet.

He hasn’t had a bad year, currently a .294 batting average, but that’s literally 100 points behind Jake right now. Just says all you need to know about how insanely good Jake has been.

On the graph you can see a very clear point when Duplantis' pace slowed down. That point coincides with the start of SEC play. Apparently the SEC throws harder than Bryant University.
