I stole this from a friend IRL, but the SEC and ACC should talk to Disney(ESPN) and put all 28 teams in a bubble in Orlando like the NBA.

All online classes.

17 the NCAA and up roster size limits to allow for transfers.

There are 20 Football Fields at the Sports complex for practices.

There are 6,000 hotel rooms at the all star complex.

Play a 9 game season with a 4 team playoff.

Play division plus one team from the other 3 divisions (MSU would play SEC west plus one from SEC east [UK], ACC Atlantic [NCSU), and ACC Coastal[UM])

Non playoff teams would be groups to play consolation games so everyone plays the +2 games

Play 2 games Friday night, and 12 on Saturday (ESPN ESPN2, SEC Net, ACC Net)

College players aren't being paid. You can't put them in a bubble.

If they want to avoid massive disruptions, something like this has to be done. The cost of housing a few thousand folks in Orlando for 4 months would be significant, but Disney is hurting, and maybe they could work a deal out where the conferences share a % of tv money rather than paying them outright.

I don’t know about a couple of the items like doing away with roster limits, but I absolutely do think that folks are missing what’s right in front of them if a bubble is not being considered. The pros, both short and long term, heavily outweigh the temporary cons

When I went to state the first time before i joined the Marine Corps the football players lived in the Football dorm. The football players had their own cafeteria. The football players had curfew. Don't say it can't be done and don't say they can't set up all on line courses for the football team at the football facilities. Just tell them you can play if you want or not. If not you do not lose you scholarship but if you play these are the rules you must follow.

When you say 'sports' you really mean it in the singular sense.
...unless you forgot the plan for ALL the other sports that are played in both conferences?

Disney would make up any "lost revenue" from housing the teams in TV ad money. ( since there would be no other college football).

And if they go to a bubble, all the players likely to be drafted in other Conferences will transfer.

Disney owns ESPN owns the SEC Network. All of them are desperate for inventory right now. They want us to play.

Not to mention, if you subscribe to Dicktor Van Doomcock you know that Disney is in absolute tatters. They need to right the ship in a hurry.

They are college students. They should do what the other students are doing. If that's on campus classes then that's what they should be doing.

And other sports can feasibly be pushed to the spring. Football simply cannot IMO

Not sure when you last attended college, but it’s been around 40-50 years since the life of a college football player resembled anything remotely close to a “normal” college student. There’s no reason to start pretending that they’re regular students today

No, Dorndog is right. You are obviously crazy to claim that just because they get a check that they can cash and spend on what they want that they are getting paid.**

You think that stipend is fair market value for, say, Kylin Hill?

Like I said, what the other students are doing. What's so hard to understand about that? Now having the whole student body go online only to preserve football would kind of be the tail wagging the dog now wouldn't it?

With everything else he has received including development into an nfl worthy player, yes. How much have we spent on facilities and coaches for him?

They are getting a college education for free. I don't know if you have looked at what that costs these days but they are being well paid.

I've heard it's just a bunch of walking around getting $100 handshakes every day (even Sunday) for hours. Then trying to figure out which car to drive over to McDonald's to get a big mac...

So your boss cuts your pay when you get a window office or he pays to send you to coaching? Or do you get a raise due to becoming more valuable?

You want 29 athletic departments to have their entire 105 man roster, practice squad, coaching staff, training staff, equipment managers, support personnel, nutritionists, tutors and administration... pack up all their **** (which won't even fit in one 18-wheeler for a single away game) and tell them to go live in a hotel for 4 months?

Well....

I agree. That is why they should not be in a bubble. They are amateur college athletes, not paid professionals.

I'm just clarifying, and MSU is mostly online classes now, even before the inevitable outbreaks start.

MSU already has plans for students to live in hotels and go 100% online.

What is the difference between a hotel isolation to prevent virus spread in Starkville vs Orlando?

You all are letting dorndawg troll you. It's not about the debate on what players should get, it's about the fact that they aren't paid professionals (no matter the benefits they receive from the school). Don't get pulled down his agenda'ed rabbit trail.

Bubbles work for pro sports. If you want college to stay amateur, you should be against the bubble.

you want football? This fall? When a Georgia Elementary school lasted 4 days before quarantining of 900?

And you think my idea is a long shot....

Then we will not have football this year.
That seems very likely. But remember, I'm just living in reality. I happen to think our entire approach to this virus is retarded. But be that as it may, it seems impossible to play football at this point unless the SEC (or whoever) accepts some risk and says 17 it.

Do you think the stipend is fair market value for somebody who gets a scholarship but rides the bench for four years without being processed?

What the 17 relevance is it? The guy that cuts my yard now probably charges $15 less a cut than anybody else I coudl find. You're argument is that when I hand him cash he's somehow not been paid? You're just intentionally being dumb.
