Worked with Woods for a small amount of time in the 90's.
Let's just say meeting an unforgettable quickly became something I wanted to forget.
Just because you wear a UK jersey at some time in your life does not mean you are an honorable or good person.
"Never meet your heroes" is some of the best advice you can give.

Can't see the article, I don't do X.
SCOTT COUNTY, Ky. (LEX NEWS) — Two students at Scott County High School say school administrators failed to protect them from repeated sexual abuse, harassment, and assault by basketball coach and teacher Sean Woods — and then worked to conceal the misconduct rather than stop it, according to a lawsuit filed in Scott County Circuit Court.

The lawsuit names Woods, Superintendent Billy Parker, Assistant Superintendent Brent Allen, Principal Elizabeth Gabehart, multiple assistant principals, and other school officials as defendants. The 168-paragraph complaint outlines 18 legal counts and seeks punitive and compensatory damages.
According to the complaint, Woods engaged in inappropriate physical contact with the students, made sexual comments, asked questions about their sexual experiences, invited them to drink alcohol and attend parties, and kept them in his presence for extended periods — including skipping classes and ordering food to his room.
The suit alleges administrators discouraged complaints to "avoid slowing down" the process, provided misinformation to parents and the public about the allegations, allowed Woods to continue coaching basketball and attending school events during pending investigations, and ignored or delayed mandatory reports to law enforcement.

The lawsuit also alleges Woods had a prior termination from another job for sexual misconduct, a history of inappropriate comments and advances toward students and staff, and that supervisory defendants were aware of that history before his hiring.

The lawsuit noted that the students were transferred to a new school in January 2026 after the plaintiffs say repeated failures to remove Woods left them with no other option. Woods eventually resigned in March 2026, only after social workers substantiated the allegations against him, the lawsuit claims.
The two students say they suffered severe emotional distress, physical impairment, educational disruption, diminished earning capacity, and long-term trauma as a result of the abuse and the school's response to it.

Legal claims in the suit include negligence, assault, battery, sexual assault, intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress, failure to report, active concealment, violation of the Kentucky Civil Rights Act on the basis of disability and gender, negligent hiring, training, retention and supervision, and vicarious liability.

The complaint alleges the defendants acted with "wanton and reckless disregard" for the rights and safety of the plaintiffs. The suit also seeks pre- and post-judgment interest and attorney fees.

Community Education Director, Renee Holmes, released the following statement to LEX News:

Scott County Schools is aware of the lawsuit in question. We will address the allegations listed in the filing as appropriate through the legal system.

I learned it the hard way in sixth grade. One of my heroes was Travis Ford. Met him after a UK game and he was a complete and total prick. (I was also almost his height and I was 5’4 at the time)

I politely asked for his autograph at Rupp during the downtime before Pitino’s courtside postgame. He smirked at me and said he didn’t “have time for this BS” and walked away. I was crushed and never forgot it. The 93 squad was my favorite UK team and I worshipped those guys back then. Mashburn was my true hero. Ford was second until that day.

Never believe a one sided story, from what I've heard about him, he would never do anything like this, plus one of the girls mother was so aggressive in pushing this narrative, remember kids lie and make up stuff all the time and keep it going once it gets attention...

“I’ll bring the rope?” Sean Woods is obviously black.

If these allegations are true, IF they are true, then Woods is just an abhorrent piece of s**t and deserves the worst that the justice system could throw at him. But that phrase above? You don’t say that.
Oh my gosh dude...who is turning this into race??? That would be YOU! I said watch Lonesome Dove for a reference, maybe you should have. They hung four white dudes for stealing horses and killing people.
I said "If a PERSON is found guilty of any sexual act or conduct with a minor"...I don't care if the person looks like Sean Woods or Reed Sheppard or Yao Ming or Eduardo Najera...same rope, or if you prefer, whatever method of castration you like. But it doesn't have one damn thing to do with color. Do better dude

I’m reluctant to venture into this mess. And I know you didn’t mean it this way.

But anyone well versed in American history should know that “I’ll bring the rope” is never ever an appropriate thing for a white man to say about a black man accused of sexual harassment.

You’d be better off just acknowledging “oops, I chose my words poorly” then continuing to try to defend the line.

You need to lighten up. Not everything is racist and no he obviously didn’t mean it. Ignore and move on with life. It’s ok you can let go of the hate.

No way. Intent means something. You said you knew I didn't mean it that way which I absolutely did not. I went to Booker T Washington in Hopkinsville after my family home in Crofton burned down when I was 10. Every friend I had was black, my best friend was Lynn Suber who went on to play hoops at Texas A&M. We played one on one year round. I seriously doubt there is a person that sees color less than I do on this board. I certainly won't apologize for something that I absolutely had no thought of

because there’s a long a sordid history of extrajudicial killings of black people via lynching. Google Rainey Bethea if this is news to you.
Ok but we all know what he meant.
We’re talking about a suspected s*xual predator of minors. Can’t blame the guy for being a bit aggressive in his reaction. There was zero racial intent to what he said

It’s 2026. You no longer have to be PC or feel guilt for stuff you had nothing to do with.

Substantiated by the Commonwealth of Kentucky Cabinet of Health and Human Services. CPS Investigation.

Didn’t he get fired from Morehead for being abusive to the players? I remember a game when they played Kentucky and he was all in the face of one of his players. Even the tv announcers were talking about it. I think he soon got fired after this.

The player looks dead inside by the time Woods was done with him. To think that a High School thought that Sean Woods was the guy to be leading a team of students is just befuddling.

Between Richie Farmer turning out to be a corrupt contemptible thief, and Woods a filthy sleazebag, that decision to hang the “unforgettable” jerseys looks more regrettable every year.
Technically it’s just about the on court accomplishments. Nobody could predict what they would do later in life. It should have no bearing on it. Two separate things imo. Sad they are like this. That said if it is true I would not be against taking him down.
