Some people are taking it personal. I’m just saying what people don’t want to say. These kids are getting paid. Back when I came out of high school my family and I were offered and accepted money. Sometimes they just send it to you without even telling you before hand. And it’s not directly from someone in the program. Boosters will send you money. Hell one school had people over management at my godfathers job and they gave him a brand new truck, big raise and promoted him up the chain. There’s all kind of ways they funnel money to these players. On my visit to a school the recruiting coordinator pulled out a big roll of money and gave me and my friend $1k. Neither one of us went to that school but we damn sure didn’t give that money back.
I’ll say this hypothetically speaking ;). I know of someone (family related) who played football for an ACC school. He and I were talking of different things sports related and he mentioned the money they received when they would travel to play other schools and also the money he received when they went to a major bowl game. It was a lot for the time they were in that city. Most of it he pocketed instead of eating Ruth Chris every meal, he ate Burger King and Wendy’s for bfast and lunch. Team dinner was always on school tab. So the convo came up of paying players to come to so called school. He mentioned one player would drive around campus is a beat up clunker and the next year he was driving around in a Benz. He said everyone knew where it came from but it was never mentioned.

You must’ve been privileged growing up huh? You may not know but a lot of us black kids aren’t privileged growing up. That $100k is of great use. Once again you are conpromising anything. You don’t get in trouble for it. And clearly people outside of some Duke fans except the fact that money is being passed around behind closed doors.

Interesting that some of us "white kids" grew up in poverty and still knew the right choices and what temptation is. Don't blame race here.

Come on are you serious!?!?!? Go to Duke and play for Coach K, the GOAT, tons of TV exposure, play in the toughest and bet conference in the nation....or you can go to USC or Zona. Who offers nothing that Duke would or does.
I literally said I don't think Duke paid him or anything. I just said it's hard to believe Bagley wasn't offered anything by zona or USC

Don’t say that. People on here don’t want to hear that.

Lol he actually thinks someone reading would take it seriously if he stated the school he was an "athlete" for. Smh.

Oh it doesn’t matter. I made sure I used all of my resources from that school. I’m GRRRRRRRREAT. You’re the uptight one hahaha. Thinking Duke is clean but everyone else isn’t and get offended when someone says everybody cheat. You act like you got money invested in Duke. Which I doubt you do

Just looks like you're reaching...

You’re a joke. Talking about make the right choices haha. I play for you and make you millions but I should do the right thing by not accepting payment to help my family. Gotcha. The program is more important.

Can you form a coherent post? Let's break this pos down:

- where did I say Duke was "clean"?
- can you prove where my money is invested? If so, please cite your source(s).
- I'm uptight? How is that? Life is great here lol.

Now, you're a bit jumpy thinking you'd be a rat if you posted your "school" here. Nothing would, or could, be done. You're simply lying.

Where did I say that Einstein? I simply made a comment for your excuse/race comment.

You need to work on comprehension - flexing that "ego" of yours is pretty contradictive to not fully grasping the English language.

Yep I’m lying. I didn’t get past little league. I’m just trying to be cool like you hahaha. I bet your bank account you don’t personally have money invested in the Duke basketball or football program. They don’t let just anybody in the athletic foundation. Also go over the list that just came out and pick out a non black player. That’s why I said “black”. You seem offended that I said that. It’s a fact all of these kids listed are black. Soooooo yea

So wait, first it was "Duke" now Dukes athletic program? Please again prove how I'm not donating to either. I'll wait.

Ok. Let me type slower for you. I said I bet you don’t invest your money in the program. I see you don’t even understand how all of this works. So that tells me you don’t invest in the program. You probably think Duke (the school) pay Coach K all of that money. Hahahaha. The athletic foundation pay the coaches if you didn’t know. That’s why when a coach is on the hot seat they always bring up boosters.

If this scandal takes down all of college basketball, I wouldn't care. The fact that players do not get paid and can't make money off of their likeness should be illegal. I would tell every single college player to take money if it is offered and try not to get caught.

For people who say it is immoral, whose morality is this based on? The idiotic NCAA?

So why not be clear the first time? You need to type slower for yourself, scientist.

Again, please prove how they turn money away/I don't donate. I'll wait.

Well said. Just pay the players, purge the system.

I bet you so it’s up to you to prove that you have INVESTED money into the program. Do you know the difference between invest and donate? When you donate you’re just giving money away. When you invest you are looking to make money off the money you put up. So this means something negative could hurt your investment. Got it?

You do realize that donating is a form of investment to some of us? Wow, you're a tool, a financially challenged tool. Smh.

Just to help you learn - not all investments are sought to provide a hard-dollar ROI; some are used to protect from/or avoid taxation.

I think in a lot of cases, there are two different things being argued here. We are talking about players being paid, and whether or not Duke runs a clean program. Can't both be true? Do I think coach K or Duke, the university has paid players? No, I don't believe they have. I can't prove it, just what I believe, but has someone not employed by the program paid money to a player? Maybe an agent to sway that player to sign with him? Maybe. I can't prove that one either. But I do believe players are given money by outsiders and the school or coach have no idea that it happened.

My thing is, if they allow payroll for players, is there a set amount per Division/level? What would stop schools from throwing "kickers" illegally? There still could be a system of corruption.

I still don't think paying players fixes this at all. Let's say a school is allowed to give a player 10,000 to come play here. One school offers the top recruit his allowed 10,000....I still think agents, boosters, or whoever are still going to slide that under the table 50,000 to them to go to the school they want them to go to. What's better than 10,000? 60,000!!

I want the minutes I've spent reading this back!

I got a third of the way through and stopped. Like I said before, paying players won't fix anything. There will still be those trying to pay or receive more than what is allowed. I think the only way to really stop it is to have a penalty so huge that getting caught absolutely ruins you and it simply isn't worth it. Even that would 100% prevent it. Killing someone for money can cost you your life if you're caught, but people still do it.

Nice response. Sounds like you should start with the basics - maybe Dave Ramsey, or "Investing For Dummies". There are some knowledgeable people here as well.

Riiiiiiiight. You said donating could also be an investment. I’m done after that statement. Enjoy the game homie
