Brother and I own some land in Cumberland and Monroe that we bought to hunt on. Been on it once since 1991. Both of us are considering donating it to UK.Condolences for your mom. Still have both my parents but I know it’s getting close to my time. And we’re close neighbors, as I’m typing on my phone from Cumberland County. Like you, I’m proud of where I’m from.
I'm with you. What county are you from, backer? It’s the same here, except not as rugged. I’m in hill country but we do have river and creek bottom land. A good mix of both I guess. But yeah, sounds like we both grew up in the same manner, and I wouldn’t change a thing. Love my upbringing, and feel lucky to have had it.

I'm not sure Cal is capable of changing the program in any meaningful way.
No solid 3 or 4 year player is going to choose UK because he knows he won't get playing time and he'll be recruited over every year he is here
so that leaves Cal in a very niche area of recruiting highly rated freshmen, coddling them while they are here and then watching them leave whether they perform at a high level or not.
When people say Cal isn't going to change, I think what they are really saying is he doesn't have a choice.
Interesting that hardly anyone wants to talk about this when mentioning poverty. Why is that?Of course family wealth and having parents involved in your life certainly gives one a better start at success in life than those who grow up in poverty with parents who aren't involved in their lives. That being said, those conditions don't prevent someone from being successful. If college is is ones goal, there is no reason a person can't work and go to community college and eventually get a degree. If a person has the determination, he/she can be successful in this country. If college isn't the goal, there are lots of opportunity in trade school, etc., where a hard working kid can make a good living. It all comes down to desire and effort.
Remember the uproar when Dan Quayle suggested that was an issue and Candace Bergen (I think that was her name) on Murphy Brown pushed back and the nation was like all Dan Quayle you are a horrible person, its her right , blah , blah, blahmeanwhile we live in a country that has been bashing the family structure for 40 + years on sitcoms and movies . Being a male in our society is looked down upon now. Feminism at its best is what is causing the issue.
