I think Scott cares alot. He certiany feels the pressure.

He was humble ...

I took it as a guy who knows he has a golden parachute. He’s not worried about losing his job.

And I don’t know that he does care. If the rumors about his laziness are true it seems he was more interested in the money.

When you have a $20 mil golden parachute....combined with a large segment of the fan base that will give you no expectations for winning anything (because if Scott can't do it who can?). I think he appears to be in a very good spot.

It seems like he has gotten used to being a loser. I remember the press conference after his first loss to Colorado. He was in pain. He was pissed. You could see that hurt him. Somehow over the course of overseeing one of the worst periods of Nebraska football in the entire history of the program, he seems to have gotten used to losing. You hear the same recycled answers.

He sucks as a head coach ...but he only has talent for a 6-6 team. If Gabe Ervin was a stud he would be a bulldog. If Stepp was great he would still be at SC. If Morrison was great he would be at OU or OSU. Reimer is an ex walk on. Kolarevic is a non-P5 transfer. Liewer is a walk on. Toure is a former two star.

Nebraska should be better and that is on coaching but don't kid yourself - this team is not super talented. I don't think the talent difference of the field yesterday was that great - I thought it was two evenly matched teams frankly.

Bad coaching can make a talented player look really bad. Good coaching can develop a decent talent to something special. We have bad coaching with decent talent. Same mistakes different players. I wanted to have frost succeed but he is unwilling to change how he coaches to fix the mistakes. He is trying to emulate Osbornes culture. The problem is he was only a player in his system and never saw the behind the scenes stuff he did. When he came in he never asserted himself as the head man or father figure but as a best friend. He didn't want to punish people for their mistakes so they would not make them again. Look at the captains making the mistakes. How does the team respond when they can't even do the simple things right. They don't trust what you have to say. I expect a turnover from Martinez every game. He keeps saying I can't do that and need to fix it but never does. Same thing every game. It all falls back on frost and coaching/culture.

That parachute may have a big hole in it if the NCAA puts sanctions on the program for violating Covid 19 extra practices at another site of practice and having a analyst coaching them at another..

That would give Nebraska just cause not to pay him all of the 20 million buy out..

What makes you think we have talent for a 9-10 win team? Have you looked at rosters from Indiana, Rutgers, Maryland ... our recruiting is no better than theirs. We should expect better results than we are getting but what makes you think we have a team that can compete with the top 25 in the nation on a regular basis? We don't have one four star recruit for 2022.

Maryland has three four stars committed for 2022 including a 4star QB from Georgia. We have a 5.5 three star that we are assured is great because our QB coach, savant, feels is the next Carson Wentz. I trust RIVALS over Mario at this point.

Also, I would take Tua's brother over AM any day of the week at this point. We are lucky we are not playing Maryland this year.

You can try to ignore the star system but when you look at the best teams in the country they are loaded with 4/5 star players - it's a fact.
I'm not ignoring rankings. You are. Contrary to your claims, none of the teams you listed in here have out recruited Nebraska during Frost's tenure.

According to recruiting rankings.

We've had the best talent in the West for Frost's entire tenure here. Why he does less with more is on him and his pathetic staff.

Edit: less with more

Not only that plenty of recruits were highly ranked never panned out and never even made the practice field.. His ranking calculated over from the losses is a very highly ranked class isn’t in the first place..

Exactly and that same segment of the fan base and administrators that thought they were helping him were actually hurting him. The worst thing that could ever happen to Frost was giving him free reign to do whatever the heck he wanted and then having zero accountability or expectations for him. Given 4 years, I would have liked to have seen what Frost could do without his band of bozos from Florida. He still might have failed or he might have been successful, but now we'll never know. Frost was never going to be successful with the band of idiots he brought with him.

This is the most talent Frost is ever going to have. With the covid super seniors leaving and recruiting has already dropped off, talent will only drop off from here.

People really underestimate the importance of good coaching. If AM had been coached at Ohio State, I think he'd be a damn good qb right now. Coach Harry Potter really ****** with his head trying to mess with his throwing motion, and then it looks like they spend very little time actually learning to progress through reads or how to read a college defense. It's a similar story for every other position, these kids just aren't being taught how to play football the right way. Never seen so consistently a group of football players who look like this is their first year ever playing the game as a Frost coached football team the past 4 years.

You might be right but I don’t think he has “it”. IMO.

I have stood by for 4 years expecting improvement. I liked Frost as a player and loved the hire. I don’t care that we lost. What I care about is the way we lost……AGAIN! “We will get our breaks sooner or later” FRAUD, you are relying on breaks now? Something that Tom drilled into you during your playing days that SHOULD NEVER be relied on? You have had absolutely ZERO improvement in 4 freaking years in any fundamentals. You have obviously been out coached in MANY winnable games. We aren’t stupid, we have watched and seen. You are fleecing this university of MILLIONS of dollars trying to act like you know what you are doing. I have seen enough of you. I don’t care if we give 500K to a respectable high school coach that can get his multiple assistants (and himself) to teach basic jr high fundamentals to the team like you obviously have failed to do in 4 years. You absolutely ruined your legacy here. You aren’t even improving a little bit. I am completely disgusted.

Haven’t we already done enough with our self sanctions the past few years? Will the NCAA give us a break? We put ourself on a bowl ban, and even decreased our wins for the past decade already

I don’t think the sanctions will be severe but it will give Trev just cause not to SF the full 20 million..

But yea we’ve done it to ourselves…

Indiana and Minnesota are both 13-12 over past three seasons in Big Ten.

Illinois > Nebraska by 1 game.

Maryland and Rutgers are two programs Nebraska likely could compete with week in and week out.

Nebraska has a tougher schedule though.

They play the better teams in the East and right now, other West teams have out played Nebraska lately.

I am not huge fans of PJ Fleck or Scott Frost, but the season kicks off with Week 1 this week.

Nebraka 0-1
Illinois 1-0

Anyone who thinks Illinois is winning the West in 2021?

Agree with this. Even take away all the mistakes and this is a toss up game with equal talent.
