59 - 37 had never happened before yesterday in an NFL game. But the NYT called it.

That got me thinking about NCAA Tournament Scorigami's. There are not a lot left.

Below is the Scorigami graph for all NCAA tournament matches that were not won by fall, default, etc. - a final score was recorded.

  • Wherever there is white space are scores that have never occurred.
  • The bottom left white area WILL never occur as that would require the loser to outscore the winner.
  • Due to the tech fall some of the upper right can never occur. We will never see a 33-0 score. Joe Gibbons' 32-0 shellacking of Wes Beckwith will always be the record for largest margin of victory.
  • But we could have a 32-17 final - and that would be a scorigami.
  • No one has ever lost while scoring 20 or 21 points - but I sure would like to see that match.
  • 19 - 14 has never happened - and might be the next most likely to occur?

There appears to have been at least one 0-0 match. Wonder how/who that happened.

They used to have ref's decisions. The ref would decide who won a tied match. Dick Hutton was a ref's decision away from being the first four timer. But he was also a ref's decision away from being a two timer. Yep, he was 1-1 in tied matches in NCAA finals.

Vikings vs Packers was 39-22. Apparently first ever for that score too. Another in a long line of completely useless stats we get inundated with these days.
