Bloomfield 102, Elkhorn Valley 21? Think it's time for some of our smaller schools (including you, eastern Nebraska) to consider 6-man. It's the reality. I am fairly certain Bloomfield did not want three digits. Sad.

Elkhorn Valley just went back to 8 man a couple of years ago after some time in 6 man. I think they have some good size classes coming up and will probably will just take their lumps for a couple of years. Wouldn't be surprised to see them back at 11 man within the next 6-8 years, if not sooner.

Yeah, EV moved back to 8-man last year or the year before IIRC. They were a pretty solid team last year, but have a young team and a new coach this year. Bloomfield was just a tough matchup for them. I believe it was 60-14 after just the first quarter.

Also, I think you will see more schools in the 6-man ranks in the next two-year cycle. It will be interesting to see if the NSAA gets back involved in running the game at that level. Right now there are 24 or 25 schools playing 6-man.

 

[Big Red Thoughts]

Good wins last night in C2-4 for Crofton, Hartington CC and Lutheran High. I was at the Stanton-Lutheran game, great game overall with a lot of good athletes on field, for Lutheran Spier and Berner looked solid and Nickolite and Bohac from Stanton were difference makers. Stanton could not clise deal at end of game by getting a field goal blocked and fumble, then giving up a hook and ladder on a 4th and 11. If anyone has a chance to see Stanton play the Bohac kid is worth price of admission, on offense, special teams and defense.
