A LOT closer than expected. Maybe Indy isnt as down as initially thought?
I mean, its Indy, they are going to have talent, regardless.
I found out that was mid 1st quarter score. Byrnes was up 7-0. Due to lightning the game eventually was cancelled. Not sure if there be makeup game or not.

Mooresville is not very good, they had good talent for a few years but that talent is gone now. Weddington will be in regional final again
To say Mooresville is not very good after 1 game is crazy. They did play awful Friday it happens. To say they have no talent when multiple playes hold offers with a couple already commited just lets me know you didn't do your research. Never knew so many are hoping for the downfall of lil ol Mooresville. Smh

Not hoping for down fall for Mooresville. I was just saying that they COULD be in for a long season taking it that they don’t improve. Which I believe they will. Time will tell. They don’t have the team like last year and I know Mooresville has good coaching staff. And they will have them ready. My opinion is this. I personally think LN wins the conference followed by Mooresville. If I’m wrong and Mooresville wins the conference anyone that knows me knows I will be 1st one to congratulate the team.

Time will tell. I could be proven wrong. Just my opinion. I didn’t say they weren’t good but they do need improvement which I believe they will

Yeah I say just let it play out. A lot of people out here making bold statements. Im anxious to see about Lake myself because the pressure is on them to win.

Since it didn't go a whole half, it doesn't count
From a source I found today they gave Byrnes the win. I didn’t get into the full details but to what read Independence decline to show up on Monday giving Byrnes the win. Interesting situation.

BREAKING:

X

According to Byrnes High School

administration, Byrnes will be awarded the win over Independence following Friday night's game, which was suspended due to lightning.

According to SCHSL rules, when a game is suspended, one of three things must happen:

  1. The game is resumed on Saturday or Monday.
  2. Both teams agree that the game is final at the point it was stopped.
  3. One team elects not to resume the game and accepts a forfeit.

As of Sunday, Independence has declined to return Monday to complete the game. As a result, Byrnes will receive the Week 1 victory by forfeit.

Independence has elected to appeal the forfeit ruling to the NCHSAA.

The Rebels now turn their attention to Dorman, where they will play Friday night.

I can understand why Independence would decline to complete a game on Monday. Come to find out it’s 96 miles from Independence high to Byrnes high. Tough for school night.

JVs play on the road on a school night every week. I am not going to assume I know what all the factors are but this game could have been moved to 6:00 to help with the time issue. If the writing was on the wall for Indy, then playing tonight puts them on a short week for prep and less time to heal some injuries which could lead to another loss this Friday against a team that is 25-3 over the past 2 seasons.

How often do JV teams go on a 2 hour road trip? I'm pretty sure CMS High Schools start at 7:15 am mixed with likely needing to get out of school early. It sucks, but I don't blame Independence.

JVs play 2 hours away all the time. I am not knocking Indy, I do not know all the variables. My point was, it the coaches could see that things may get ugly at Byrnes and then get banged up on top of that with a short week to prepare and heal for week 2 game then the best thing may be to not go back. 1-1 is better than 0-2.

NH looked completely disinterested in playing. I can see NH finishing 4-6 in the conference this year.
NB will have their hands full @ Jacksonville and it looks like @ Rose is better this year.
New Bern didn't show a lot heading into this week with Havelock. They swapped out the starting QB on several drives. Everyone will have their hands full with Jacksonville, as usual.
