I would love to read that SyracuseFan board if he was hired there. They hate him more than anyone.
This was my first thought upon seeing the Schiano to Cuse talk. It would be delightful reading no doubt although I personally think it'll never happen.

Right, he does not need to work. He doesn't need to settle for anything. He only takes any job he likes, for the challenge of working again. Who knows what he's thinking. I hope he's thinking he'd like to finish what he started at Rutgers. He is one on the few who we might be able to afford who would bring a buzz to the Banks. We will not do any better than Greg.

He seems less-than-confident about Schiano going to Rutgers.
I just think that Julie will not want to clash with GS management style. He is a control freak--definitely a Type A approach. Afraid Julie will be worried that he may encroach on to her turf. He had perhaps a too cozy relationship with R Mulcahy. Sure as heck won't have that with Julie

agreed. And then Pernetti became the AD. They knew each other and worked together but if you thought TP was the boss of GS, you'd be mistaken. And again, he sure as heck won't have that with Julie. I doubt if Julie wants t be the subordinate to the HFC.

I think Kbee took exception to the generalization of 'no NJ talent' as it insults the players that are currently committed. The better way to say it is Flood hasn't pulled in enough top level NJ talent (or top level talent in general). I'm very happy with Solomon Manning, Phil Campbell, Mohamed Jabbie, and Nick Krimin BUT we need more complementary players of equal or higher ranking/ability to consistently compete in the B1G.

Exactly. Thank you.

As far as Schiano goes, I'm actually thinking it's 50-50 that he comes back to college at all unless it's an elite job. I don't see GS rushing back to take a second-tier college job if he thinks he might still have a chance to get back in the NFL, which I think deep down is where he really wants to be. It's one thing to use LSU as your springboard back to an NFL HC spot, it's another to use Syracuse or UCF.

I cannot think of a single reason why Syracuse would be a better coaching job than Rutgers. Not just for Schiano, for anyone.

I don't think she would care, provided he keeps it to the football program only. The problem with BM and GS, they built up football program at the expense of every other single sport at RU, save women's basketball.

It is no coincidence that every Olympic sport that RU has slipped during Greg's tenure. For those who care about the department holistically, that is a concern with Greg, though I don't think he would have those kinds of demands anymore. I have some horror stories about what our lax team was subjected to during this time. It was being run somewhere above a D3 program and below D1 programs.

There are some weird people in the world who actually like miserable weather and decaying cities far removed from civilization. Not a lot of them, but a few.

Second tier ?

I think if GS is a candidate for the LSU or USC jobs (which I doubt), he might bite. But do I see Greg Schiano giving up his NFL ambitions (or his cushy ESPN gig) to take a run at one of the half-dozen open ACC jobs, knowing he has to try to compete with FSU and Clemson every year? Not so sure.

Cali....there may be many good reasons.

*weaker league/division and easier route to perennial Top 20,
* weaker administration and more power
* probably a higher salary and more for assistants
* private school with much less press and public scrutiny of football spending

There are plenty of possible reasons to take a job there instead of here.
