I'm right here. Shocked. Absolutely shocked.
I'm not really because he's coming out from Urban Meyer's tree now and it's hard to know how much he's evolved and again all it takes is one decision maker to pick you and in this instance I think it's different and less shocking than the NFL hire.

As for the I told you so type comments, this isn't just for Schiano but with any coach. The validation isn't in the hiring, it's in the results after the hiring and that we'll see over time.

I'm blown away that I'm blown away that any major program would take a chance with the Greg Schiano. When you really break down his success it really was not success. Ohio State Defense this year certainly did not look stellar. The people down there will not like this as evidence by what's going on with their fan base and now and if he struggles early or has one what the fuc game, it's game over for him. He will be out at Tennessee in 3 years

Vol fans are crazy if they don't want Schiano. He's going to be considered a top 5 coach in the nation in a few years. Mark my words.
Well he's got the resources and been left with nice recruits from Butch so now we'll see how much he's evolved.

I wasn't as high on him as others here but we can't know how much he's changed and evolved, especially being under Meyer. So he could better than what he was here after being humbled and learning under Meyer. We'll see. I mean look at Bellichick or Carroll after his first NFL stint. Coaches can get better so I'm not writing him off even though I wasn't high on him before.

No. With Flood. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: He won a share of the Big East. Greg not so much. It’s been rock bottom since. Congrats to Greg in Tennessee. That being said, this is a horrible fit. I can’t see him lasting more that 3 years.

Btw, I see the reaction in Twitter has been overwhelmingly negative.

I can't see him lasting more than 1-3 years tops.

Dan Mullen to Florida btw.

That’s how much you know about college football. He may only last 4 years but that another $16 millions.

Schiano was only 2-3 games away from having great season. A superstar QB gets you 2 games and we never had close to a great QB, Teel and Nova was between fine and good.

Hope Schiano doesn't promise winning championships and building a program on a solid foundation...he doesn't deliver on either of those things. Sorry if you think I'm an ingrate, but he foolishly bolted for a job he wasn't qualified for while failing to complete the vision he promised. This program has little chance of properly rebuilding because of his premature departure. I don't have ill wishes for him, but I won't be cheering for him.

Selling recruits on that vision got RU some very good recruiting classes that turned into many NFL players and many Bowl wins.
The same moron posters who said Schiano would never get another good College job are now going thru gyrations trying to convince folks that he is a bad hire for Tenn.

It seems more Vols fans are upset because Schiano knew about Sandusky at PSU and did nothing to stop it.

Schiano never won a BCS Berth with those very good recruiting classes. Plus ge left those recruits hanging by a thread where Rutgers had no choice but to hire Flood. BTW, big deal on those bowls since everyone with a winning record goes to a one.

That said, Tennessee is a good fit for Schiano. They have the recruits, the facilities, and prestige he never had at Rutgers. He should do well down there if he's allowed to by those zealots down there.

And you are republishing those allegations here as though they are fact.
C'mon, they all knew what was going on but none of them had the balls to stand up to JoePa. Now Tennessee is as dirty as Penn State. Why would any NJ parent want their child to play for such a man? The Tennessee fans are 100% right.

Same reason a NJ parent want their child to play for State Penn.

This is great for GS; however, this forum should take steps to keeping ONE UT/GS master thread here, because I suspect everyone will be paying lots of attention.

When Butch Jones was fired, Schiano was considered a longshot on the Vols' Rivals board first coaching hot board. One of the reasons he was a longshot was that all of his college coaching was in the "Midwest", LOL, and not in SEC territory.

Did Schiano ever beat Butch Jones when Butch was at Cinci?

Does JG more to WR in Greg's pro set offense?

Cool, let's see what he can do and what he's learned from UM and his time away from being a HC. No excuses here, Butch recruited very well at Tenn and he's got all the resources you could want.

I will root for GS...as long as he doesn't raid NJ/ thereby SAVAGE Rutgers!

The Tennessee board is already in full meltdown mode. He hasn't even made an initial presser yet and the fans want him gone LOL. It isn't anyone on this board saying he's bad for Tennessee, Tennessee is saying it is bad for Tennessee (except for their AD).

Frost has to jump at Nebraska now (if he had interest in UF).

Not many Power 5 seats left or guys on the hot seat going into 2018, besides ND.

Interesting that some Ohio State fans are defending Schiano.

Where are all our posters who said Schiano would never get a big P5 job?
Some people are just clueless. As I've said many times, I'd take Greg back in a heartbeat and could never figure out why so many RU fans have issues with him (please don't take that as an invitation to repeat the reasons some have, which are inconsequential compared to what Greg achieved here).

Having said that, I don't think Tennessee is a great fit for him, as he's so big on academics and doing things the "right" way, none of which matter in the cheatin' SEC, the cesspool of all college football. But I wish him well and think he'll be less of a factor for RU at UT than he could've been in the B1G.
