You guys are the whiniest bitches of all time.

The spring game is boring, don't @ me. If there are nonsensical restrictions in September (when things will look much, much different) then get mad. You people bitching and moaning over hypotheticals are insufferable.
and what exactly do you think the fans at other "Big Time" programs would be saying if this happened there? Oh, that's cool. No worries. HA!

I'll be outside in a couple weeks attending my daughters graduation from Stockton, granted they are only allowing 4 people per graduate but at least its being held.
Right now Penn is virtual. Sucks for my sister and husband. They're going down and hang out on campus just to say they're there.

My nephew doesn't really care lol.

Who cares? I'm expressing my own opinion, not live action role playing as a fan of a "big time program".

And nobody ever questioned whether those white Presidents, especially those who maybe didn't do so well at the job, were given that job because of race. But as soon as a black man isn't meeting someone's expectations, regardless of pedigree of education and experience, the question of it being a "race based hire" always comes. That, folks, is what's meant by systemic racism. Sure, it's nowhere near as bad as what went on in the Civil Rights era and before, but it's still an insidious problem and if people can't see that, they have their heads buried in the sand.
Well, nobody ever questioned the white presidents qualifications

Except for Fran Lawrence
And Richard McCormick
And Robert Barchi

I can't speak for Bloustein or the prior ones. I was in high school when he died. On a business meeting in the Bahamas.

of course and for some to think it's race is beyond absurd and immature. We know the lot....

Ok let's say some did question those gentlemen's qualifications...did they also call them race hire???

with a straight face, do you think race played no part in his hire? Also, 2 of those other hires were political hires which are equally as egregious.

it should be best man for the job

I would assume the people who wanted to broaden the hiring process beyond old white men called them race hires. I seem to recall Fran Lawrence had some writings on the matter of race relations.

You would "assume"? Because last post you seemed pretty sure.

We know for a fact some have used Holloway's race, and race alone, because it's right in the thread.

I got a couple ideas for what you can do with assumptions.

I recall the criticisms of prior presidents. Apparently you do not. Without proof, either of our viewpoints are assumptions.

oo.. I liked both comments.. both good points... what does that mean?

I do think there is room for affirmative action and so-called "race hires"... Holloway started out speaking well for himself.. but we still need to hire for the best we can get... what they plan to do... their "vision". McCormick and Barchi were both weak when it came to fending off attacks on athletics.. I have no idea why Holloway is weak on students returning to campus/spring game attendance... but I suspect the reducing of legal risk (personal and as Rutgers prex) is to blame. Damn lawyers.

BTW.. not to get footbal into this.. but the video on the side is featuring a short WR from Miami called Santana Flemming (2023) .. c'mon Rutgers.. go get this kid!

50 % = ~25k

With 6 feet of social distancing I don’t see why 18-20k wouldn’t be the cap (season Tix holders only)

I don’t think Wel get that amount on a Thursday night but an official announcement would be nice since Emperor Murphy made the announcement yesterday, and some people may actually prefer planning ahead based on these new limits

Add you to those who completely missed the point. Sure qualifcations get questioned for many, but those guys didn't have people saying they got the job because they were white. Do you really not understand this?

I've been saying this since the beginning. Season ticket holders, families and students only. Throw in a few of the big donors, because, well, big donors. This will 1. keep Holloway happy with a less than 50% filled stadium. 2. Give GS a chance to be happy if there is an upsurge in season ticket sales from people who want to go to the games, since some of his bonuses are tied to ticket sales.
Now, I'm not sure how getting recruits and their families into the games plays here. Gotta let them in somehow.

Are there people who say what your saying? Sure. Some even in the thread.

But I think more people are saying it was just one of the things the search committee was looking for. Another box to check.

Does anyone know why President Holloway cares either way what the attendance limit is for the Spring Game?
I would think he has much bigger issues to deal with.
If he really feels it is a threat to Rutgers safety as an institution - he needs to address the 30% (and soon 50%) capacity limits with Gov. Murphy immediately.

I feel like AD Hobbs should have a bigger input his he is ultimately in charge of the logistics (and expense) for the Spring Game attendance.

No one has been as incompetent as this president yet either.

I agree that Hobbs is a voice that has not been heard from. Actually, haven't heard much about Hobbs in awhile.

Holloway, if you listen to his interview with The Scarlet Spotlight podcast, comes across as extremely conservative in how he is treating sports vs. fans vs covid.

@HeavenUniv. this is for you:

The entire conversation in this thread started because someone said it was based on race, with no additional qualifications.

No reason to pretend otherwise.

Julie got the job on the added nod of being female and a lesbian so there is that...lol

gender and race hires happen everyday to argue otherwise is laughable. No different than eons ago when it was a 'a white mans'world' and others were discounted due to gender or race

checking boxes matters today, right or wrong (wrong of course)

Hobbs is absolutely Zero help to Rutgers fans. Remember he didn’t want to hire Greg.
We need reach out to the Governor and the RU President

In all fairness to Hobbs, we don't know what he was told to say or not say by the Prez. That said, in the interests of RU athletics, he needs to step up. No one at baseball games is a fking joke. Limiting attendance at a state institution lower than other state institution guidelines is absurd.

This is my thought. Holloway's taking all the blame, but why would he give half a sht about the spring football game. It's Hobbs' job to make him give a sht and loosen up.

Just move it up to 10K and everyone should be happy.

agree

The thing with the spring game is it's a good PR opportunity, drives sales, drives revenue, press etc etc.. GS learned that lesson that hard way so he knows, it should be an event for the RU base and fringe people
