He'll probably change course and go with 10k after today's announcement. Unless it's solely due to not being able to afford staffing for a crowd that size. I don't think we're getting 10k on a weeknight anyway.

Heard through the grapevine today that greg is not happy about the crowd limit for the spring game. And his staff is certainly in Holloway’s ears about it. Will it make a difference? Stay tuned,

Also heard the coaching staff is planing for regular summer HS camps on campus this summer though they’ve not yet been given the OK from Holloway to hold them.
This can’t be true. Someone on here said it was all Schiano’s idea.

Holloway = unqualified race hire

racist to talk about it though

carry on

How is this whining? I paid extra for something and didn't receive what I paid for, I pointed out it was a waste of money as Rutgers didn't deliver on the signatures. Is it a regular occurrence in your life to pay for goods or services and get nothing in return?
exactly, Government institutions of which I consider Rutgers to fall within are notoriously bad at delivering on their promises. Koleszar paid for something which the Rutgers did not deliver on. He has a legitimate right to complain.

Do you thinks how he looks had nothing at all on his selection?

Btw. I think he has an awesome resume.

But I thought Julie Herman had one too for the position she was hired for.
Yes, I think his race had nothing to do with his selection, given the strength of his experience and education, which are beyond reproach. It's sad that many others seem to think it did. People are free to not like his decisions, so far (I've been mostly good with his performace, so far, especially during a very difficult time), but to assume he was hired because of his race is unfortunate, at the very least.

its funny how you people see race when you want to see race, but when people you disagree with see race, you say that they're full of crap. so it only works when it's convenient for you. got it.

This hire was more than likely going to be a race based hire..times we live in

the first thing RU touted when they hired him was his race. Every headline written when he was hired was about his race

It was certainly a major reason he got hired that trumped other reasons he got hired..hence the headlines.
Just my opinion

That’s not what I said.

I think as a candidate he checked a lot boxes. Really good boxes.

But for Rutgers, to think it wasn’t even a consideration? Eh.

I would think Schiano is annoyed at only 5K, just like the rest of us. I'm still very curious if the 5K number is based on an assumption that they're only opening the lower bowl on the RU side, 30% of which is about 5K. I actually sent an email to a few folks I know in the athletic dept. to see if they can confirm that and, if so, why they wouldn't at least open up the other side to get to 10K allowed or the whole lower bowl to get to 13K allowed (30% of 43K).

I’m pretty sure there’s demand there for 10-15K attending, based on the excitement generated by Greg’s return, the team well exceeding expectations last year, and Greg’s brewing monster recruiting class, and at the very least, the University needs to explain why only 5K are being allowed, which has not been done to anyone’s satisfaction, as we discussed in the locked thread on this. Seems like an easy thing to do (even if they had to charge $5 to defray the increased staffing costs of opening up more of the stadium) and will result in good PR and good will from the fanbase.

I also asked if they could confirm the messaging from the ticket reps around the upcoming football season being assumed to be "normal" with regard to attendance if certain criteria are met; not expecting an answer on this one, as Holloway clearly said much would depend on vaccination uptake rates and case rates by June, which we can project to be good by then. I think we'll be below Fauci's target of 10K cases/day he stated for "returning to normal" as I think we'll be at 70+% vaccinated adults by late June which, along with 35+% infected/recovered/immune (some overlap in those populations) should get us below 10K cases/day. Israel is already there on a per capita basis and we should be close to their vaccination level in 6-8 weeks. So please, get your vaccines so we can all return to RU football games and regular life.
What did the folks you know say?

Pretty sure I said last week or the week before that Greg “wasn’t going to be very happy about this” and couple of people laughed at me.

Well, he does have excellent qualifications and it’s not as if the Caucasian hires have knocked it out of the park in that office.

he does have excellent qualifications but when he was hired..it was all about him being the first African American president. Whether intentional or not..that was by far his biggest qualification to the media, at least

I am fine with that if he’s qualified, which he is. First time for everything.

It’s a checklist any P5 school would be envious of:

- Stanford (athlete too, football being a cherry on top) for undergrad
- Yale for graduate school
- Northwestern for administrative chops

I mean come on, that looks pretty awesome.

Thats fine. But him being a Stanford undergrad. Yale postgrad. And Northwestern postgrad is much bigger than him being an African American. And unfortunately the latter is what was hyped at the time of his hire.

And nobody ever questioned whether those white Presidents, especially those who maybe didn't do so well at the job, were given that job because of race. But as soon as a black man isn't meeting someone's expectations, regardless of pedigree of education and experience, the question of it being a "race based hire" always comes. That, folks, is what's meant by systemic racism. Sure, it's nowhere near as bad as what went on in the Civil Rights era and before, but it's still an insidious problem and if people can't see that, they have their heads buried in the sand.

Not sure how people don't see that and stupidly jump in to defend that guy. And then pretend to "laught" at you.

Wow, I guess there's no need to hide racism anymore.
Yes claiming Holloway’s only qualification was his color wasn’t a raciest statement

His resume proves that.

About President Jonathan Holloway - Rutgers University
Prior to accepting the presidency of Rutgers, Dr. Holloway was provost of Northwestern University from 2017 to 2020 and a member of the faculty of Yale University from 1999 to 2017. At Yale, he served as Dean of Yale College and the Edmund S. Morgan Professor of African American Studies, History, and American Studies.

As Northwestern University’s chief academic officer, Dr. Holloway supervised the university’s educational policies and academic priorities, oversaw preparation of the university’s annual budget, acted on faculty appointments and promotions, and directed the allocation of resources and space to academic units.

Dr. Holloway, who began his academic career at the University of California, San Diego, received a bachelor’s degree with honors in American studies from Stanford University and a Ph.D. in history from Yale University.

He serves on boards of the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture, Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, and the Academic Leadership Institute. He previously served on the Executive Committee of the Organization of American Historians and the boards of the Chicago Botanic Garden, Illinois Humanities, the National Humanities Alliance, and the Society for United States Intellectual History. In April 2020, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy appointed him to the Governor’s Restart and Recovery Commission, and in May 2020, New Jersey Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin appointed him to his Economic Advisory Council.

Dr. Holloway is an elected member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the Society of American Historians.

how anyone could say he was qualified is beyond me. Do I believe skin color played a role, absolutely it di but be thankful we didn't get a butch lesbian who hates men. Do I think he was the best man for the job I don't know as the applicant pool wasn't fully released but shameful to think we could not do better than his hire.

For the people in the back...

NJ is at 30 % outdoor venue capacity

After an 18 month layoff, bringing back GS, with good weather and the game being broadcast on BTN, coming off essentially a year long lockdown, optimism higher then it’s been in years and vaccines being administered at a solid pace...

To cap it at 5k, in light of all of this, with a snippet saying it’s based on University guidance, with the ridiculous limits set for baseball / lax / etc and with premature & preemptive hints (and outright claims) about indoor masking 7 months out, it’s this type of behavior which has people agitated, frustrated and overall fed up

We’ve masked
We’ve social distanced
We’ve been shut down
We’ve been vaccinated
We’ve complied with rules & regulations

Based on all of this, having 5k at the spring game is a joke. It’s embarrassing, uncalled for, and moreover, unacceptable.

Here’s hoping GS gets in the ear of the powers that be and straightens this out ASAP
WORD! Mic Drop.
