Yes,I have been critical previously but USC and ND fell through this year through no fault of Rutgers. There will be a big-time neutral site game this season which will make all of us happy and it might be local.
If we thought that USC and ND we're locked up, it would make sense that we weren't pursuing still further ooc opportunities. When those fell through, I'm guessing most other people already had dates to the prom. How is it “no fault of RU” ?
there are so many local premier holiday tournaments. How did we not get into one ? How have we not participated in one in many years ?!
yes maybe these one off scheduling come and go but this on our program to get games and elevate the program.
You keep telling us this and then nothing happens, I'm not sure the point of these blanket statements, just tell us who and where, otherwise there is no need to post.Yes,I have been critical previously but USC and ND fell through this year through no fault of Rutgers. Yes - that’s why I said we dang well better be jumping in line to try to replace Belmont. If we thought that USC and ND we're locked up, it would make sense that we weren't pursuing still further ooc opportunities. You afraid they're horning in on SHU's territory? So USC and ND are ducking RU?
Houston is definitely in play locally. Rutgers is not playing Nova or UConn unless it is part of Big East Challenge. They are working hard on a much larger game and I can't be certain about the precise opponent but it won't be local but would be televised most likely on a major network. You keep telling us this and then nothing happens, I'm not sure the point of these blanket statements, just tell us who and where, otherwise there is no need to post.
There are 330 teams in division 1?
Local and Big time = Nova or Uconn.
Thats about it.
Unless the game is just local - Then its probably Houston at MSG
Sour grapes alert but how the f*** does Seton Hall draw Texas (2021 B12), Michigan (2021 B10), and Kansas (2022 B12) the past three seasons while we get Clemson, DePaul, and surely another ACC bottom feeder this year?
SHU was selected (thus didn’t schedule ) for each of those games because it is viewed as a quality opponent. This perspective was validated when the Pirates beat Texas and Michigan.Sour grapes alert but how the f*** does Seton Hall draw Texas (2021 B12), Michigan (2021 B10), and Kansas (2022 B12) the past three seasons while we get Clemson, DePaul, and surely another ACC bottom feeder this year?
Right, my frustration is that Rutgers is not also getting those matchups scheduled and that the Big East and Big 12 put effort into creating new, interesting matchups whereas the Big 10 and ACC seem to do the same rotations year after year. We've played Miami twice, Clemson twice, Pittsburgh, Wake Forest, etc. Our game against Florida State is the only time we've played a top-40 KenPom ACC team. And I know Rutgers has been bad up until the last seasons but still. Mix it up a little.SHU was selected (thus didn’t schedule ) for each of those games because it is viewed as a quality opponent. Just guessing.....it costs SHU to use the Prudential Center. We don't have those costs. Not having home games hurts us more than Seton Hall.Sour grapes alert but how the f*** does Seton Hall draw Texas (2021 B12), Michigan (2021 B10), and Kansas (2022 B12) the past three seasons while we get Clemson, DePaul, and surely another ACC bottom feeder this year?
Sounds like his issue is more with opponents than location. A big part of the issue for RU is that they're competing against more "brand" schools in the B1G for the top challenge opponents. It's about the big TV match-ups and reality is that regardless of how good anyone is, OSU, the Michigan schools, etc., are gonna draw more more eyeballs against Duke or Villanova than RU will. The only Big East brands guaranteed to out draw SHU regardless of talent are UConn and Villanova, which leaves the Pirates in a solid place in the match-up pecking order.Just guessing.....it costs SHU to use the Prudential Center. Everything RU 72 has posted has been corroborated to me. In fact there was another big time opponent at a neutral site that was in discussion which did not materialize and probably for the best. You keep telling us this and then nothing happens, I'm not sure the point of these blanket statements, just tell us who and where, otherwise there is no need to post.

Our entire fanbase it seems is obsessed by the schedule. If we had the schedule that most want there is no way we make the NCAA tournament last year. Go do wordle or watch the NBA, don't worry about our schedule. The 20 B1G games will be plenty hard.
Playing Lafayette,DePaul and UMASS was bad scheduling and even worse team performance. Its not wrong for fans to want some tougher outer conference games but there needs to be the talent because there was very little margin for error with the Rutgers team this season. It will be difficult fot Rutgers to win 10 league games next season unless a recruit is brought in that can replace Harper's scoring. Our entire fanbase it seems is obsessed by the schedule. I’ll believe it when I see it. Like it or not, there is enough of a sample size to see that Pike is playing the type of schedule he wants…and he’d rather not challenge the team early. Year after year, our OOC schedule sucks. It is what it is. So far, he’s had 3 consecutive NCAA tournament caliber teams, so you can’t argue with the strategy yet.Yes,I have been critical previously but USC and ND fell through this year through no fault of Rutgers. Nobody wants a “tough” schedule but would you honestly consider the addition of a pair of neutral games against Howard and George Mason for the right to maybe (if we win both of those) play a neutral game against BC or Wyoming a “tough” schedule? Are the people who want a tough schedule going to cry when we go 16-15 and not make the tournament when a more reasonable schedule with the same team gets 19-12 and in the tourney?
Are some of these the same people that thought we were playing the wrong players in the beginning of last season?

Not at the expense of 3 home games in our faux tournamentNobody wants a “tough” schedule but would you honestly consider the addition of a pair of neutral games against Howard and George Mason for the right to maybe (if we win both of those) play a neutral game against BC or Wyoming a “tough” schedule?
For what reason? We were planning on one more against USC so a potential game against BC or Wyoming would be easier. Playing a neutral game against Howard is not making the schedule harder. We have no business losing that game - no matter what. If your thinking revenue - I imagine we lose money on those early match ups against CC types that we pay to come play us.Not at the expense of 3 home games in our faux tournament

9-2Why are you counting on the same scenario of great wins in the Big 10..normally teams dont lose to bad big 10 schools and make up for it by beating the best
You realize we were 12-8 this year and not 10-10, right? So let’s say instead of beating Wisconsin and Illinois, we instead beat Lafayette and UMass.9-2
10-10
that is my more realistic scenario (not necessarily this year or last)
For 19-13 not to get us in we would need us to just pick off all the dregs in B1G and to have our OOC rate really bad and for the B1G to be down.
Yes,Zags out west neutral site is certainly possible. Are we trying to schedule Gonzaga again?
W AT UMASS
W Lafayette
L Purdue
L Ohio State
not sure if we would be out last year. If i were on the committee it wouldnt impact our position. Last I checked I wasnt on the committee.
It is already stupid enough with all the quality teams that are in the area that college athletes need to get in an airplane 10+ times per year. This is going to be annoying but scheduling Gonzaga is also dumb but at least it'll raise our SOS.
