Has anyone looked ahead and seen how good we could look next year with some small steps forward? If joe can make even some baby steps forward we could realistically go 8-4 with a chance at a surprise 9-3.

NM - W
NC State - W
Ark - W
Tulane - W
Texas AM - Realistic toss up at home
Bama - L
LSU - L
Auburn - L
Mizzou - W
KY - W
bama A&M - W
TSUN - always a toss up

you can't count on NC State as win it's a road game we have looked like garbage on the road outside of two games.

Tulane. Fritz gets those boys to play hard. That's not a gimme game as you would think.

TAMU. don't expect much different than what happened this year.

Mizzou. Can't count that one as a win either. Mizzou is very up and down. They might have a new coach that inspires them to play.

TSUN- Depends on who they hire as a coach.

Truth is with JoMo as the coach very few games are gimme games or for sure wins.

I’m not saying this to be negative or **** on joe. But I don’t know how you count NC State, Tulane, Missouri and Kentucky as a win. I pretty much see everything as a toss up except the losses you mention and wins over NM, Arkansas, and Alabama A&M.

That's what I'm saying, these games should be wins, if Joe can just get some of the young guys to step up and win those close games that he couldn't this year (UT and KSU) it could be a whole new ballgame

oh i though you said we were going to win those games. based on Moorhead's in game coach ability and his preparedness for games. I don't think he has it in him to fully prepare for a game and make the right decisions in game against mid tier or better opponents to win games. He doesn't have the talent of penn state, lsu, or bama to run it the way he wants to run it or tries to run it.

NC State won 4 games this year, Tulane I see as ULL was this year- a game that may be closer than it should be but talent will win out. Mizzou has no coach and loses their QB, Kentucky I concede could be closer but we beat them this year so I lean toward beating them next year when we *should* be better.

we have arkansas and piss to thank for us not being at 4 wins. thankfully arkansas was worse than a FCS team this year.

Are you saying NC State played a more difficult schedule than we did?? and OM still would have had to win OT, it's unfair to say we have to thank them for benevolently hiking their leg and pissing the game away.

NC State Lost to 3-8 Georgia Tech! Unbelievable to say we owe it to ark and om for not being in same boat.

Tulane went 6-6 this year. They’ve improved but we should still win. Losing to them would be Joe’s worst loss to that point unless he loses to New Mexico or something like that.

He said IF we make progress. If we make progress, NC State is about as easy of a P5 game as we're going to get. If we lose to them anyway, we haven't made progress.

so we need to book mark this stuff where everyone is predicting 8 or 9 wins again. there was a lot of that this preseason. Then the excuses started flowing. What will they be next year?

no i'm saying we are poorly coached and let other poorly coached teams also beat us unless they have pretty much quit. so many said no way we lose to Tennessee but we did.

We'll probably screw around and lose one we should win, so 6-6.

I’ll say 8-4. We upset A&M or Auburn at home but lose to Kentucky (expected to be good next year) or Ole Miss on the road.

NC State game is a crucial swing game. Win there and we should be 4-0 when we host A&M. Lose there and it’s going to be an uphill battle to get to 6 wins and to convince people to come to games.

so again several are saying we have the talent to win 8 or 9 and the schedule to win 8 or 9. Will we hold the coach accountable to that standard or will 6-6 and excuses be good enough again?

No, I don’t believe he should get a Year 4 if we go 6-6 again. That either means we lose the Egg Bowl or start 4-6 again, and if the latter happens I’m not even sure he gets to coach the Egg Bowl.

Ole miss was a 4 win team too. We beat them by 1 point at home because of a missed extra point.

I got all excited until I realized you didn't forget the comma between Alabama and A&M on the first row.

That’s kind of backwards logic. Every team plays bad teams every year and their records benefit from it. We played the games and won. In 2014 we had Auburn and LSU being in down cycles to thank for having our shot at a great season. In 2017 we had the benefit of a 4 win Arkansas CB whiffing on an easy pick to take the escape with a W. Two weeks prior we got the benefit of an 83 yard punt return to expand our 4 point lead with 5:00 to go vs. a 2nd year in the FBS, two win, UMASS team. Or the 2013 come from behind OT win vs 3 win Arkansas. Our bowl streak could have been over before it started. But we got to play a ****** team and won. There’s also the 2016 debacle where we gave up 600 yards to an FCS team. A win is a win. I’m all aboard the “hey, can we see a 17in pulse vs a decent opponent” bandwagon. But I won’t hold ugly wins against anyone. And to “but actually” those wins this year is to do some unnecessary mental gymnastics with all of the legitimate gripes.

the best thing is that the schedule sets up with a chance to build some reasonable momentum before the big stretch

you are kidding right? did you just compare LSU and Auburn in 2014 to Arkansas and Ole Miss in 2019.... i can't help but just stare at that. couldn't get past it. talk about fault logic. 1+2= -2

I wish we had let Moorhead go, but why do people keep saying we won because of the pissing/missed XP? That extra point would have tied the game. Maybe they go for 2 without the penalty and don’t get it. OM did not give us that damn game. We should have beaten the **** out of them. We should have never given up a 4th and 25. We kept them in the game. They gave us nothing.

I rarely go to MSU games but that NC State game interests me as far as a road trip is concerned if only because I've got relatives in the research triangle area (who might also root for State since they're Duke grads).

I understand that it might be tough to understand semi-complex thought. I was talking about how other teams relative talent plays into a season’s final tally. I was just illustrating two different ways that it has manifested in our past successes. But continue to talk around the point, please.

promise you i can understand higher complex thought. i have the degrees to prove it. i'm not following your faulty logic of x=y. those two do not equate to the same thing. you are using things that don't compare to make your argument.

When you say this it reads like “we’re a 4 win team
if ole miss and Arkansas wasn’t so bad.” I may have misinterpreted what you meant but if not then I feel like my point makes complete sense. When I mention 2014 it was to just highlight a similar concept in a different type of year. We won 10 games in 2014, due in part to LSU and Auburn being worse. But no one says “we have LSU and Auburn being middle of the pack to thank for us having 10 wins.” And I feel like that’s kind of what your saying. And I was saying that there’s plenty of real stuff to argue about.

we have arkansas and piss to thank for us not being at 4 wins. thankfully arkansas was worse than a FCS team this year.
