SIAP: Scandal and Bol Bol

Quick thought on one of our biggest prospects:
Top 3 overall Bol Bol, https://n.rivals.com/content/prospects/2018/bol-bol-731, (ESPN announcer: He’s the son of NBA legend, Manute Bol!)

A center who’s been measured at 7’3 with a 7’8 Wingspan, and is not your average unskilled giant recruit: http://peachstatebasketball.com/brandonclayscouting-player-card-bol-bol/ "averaging 24 points, 10 rebounds and 4.5 blocks per game. He is even shooting 49% from 3pt range.”

Bol Bol’s recruitment has often been cited as a Three-horse race between Arizona, USC, and UK.

Does the recent scandal and its effects on Arizona and USC's teams (Loss of ***. Coaches, player ineligibility, postseason ban, death penalty, etc.) almost ensure Bol Bol to Kentucky?

I had the same thought OP. It can only help UK's chances imo.

I would think it is SoCal. Outside of the SEC, most reference USC to being SoCal, and say South Carolina when referencing them.

Certainly can't hurt us that both AZ and USC are on that list. Maybe Cal had some knowledge of this scandal coming out and the reason he dropped interest in Shittu feeling that maybe Bol was now UK bound? Just a guess and probably not close as I don't see how Cal could have prior knowledge of report since it was FBI. But, ya never know.

Southern Cal has had more than its share of scandals yet is rarely mentioned as a crooked school.

You know, you are right about that. They have had a pretty scar filled past in both major sports yet no one seems to ever bring them up in discussions of dirtiest programs in college. They are definitely in the running.
