Surprised not more is being said about the race.

If I still lived there I would be voting for Alan Wilson.

Full disclosure. I know Alan. He is college friend of my sibling.

If you are a republican who do you support?

Lastly, I leave this site for a couple of months and come back to some Hawkeye invasion. Most seem to be leftist.

If you are a hawkeye and are a pub and/or MAGA please speak up.

I spent quite a bit of time updating my ignore list and thought it might just be easier if I knew who the conservatives from Iowa are and just ignore the rest.

@Moral

I am a Reaganite Gen Xer.

Life is too short to wade through leftist nonsense. I haven't been here in a while and came to see if anyone was talking about the SC governors race.

Mendacious BS from carpetbaggers is a waste of my time.

Are there any actual liberals left?

Not that I can see.

All I see is a bunch of woke, socialist perves eat up with TDS and peddling false narratives.

Oh and I did not vote for Trump in 2016. I actually hated the man at the time. He is a boor and a cad but he got my vote in 2020 and 2024.

The left is made up of progressives, neoliberals (laissez faire capitalists), establishment types, blue dog conservative type Democrats, and we also have Republican Democrats which are pals with us because they are never trumpers. Also on the rise are the non-woke liberals that will call you slurs like maga but also support stuff like M4A.

The left is made up of a mixture of people that support regulated capitalism, free market capitalism, and more social elements but typically a mixture of all.

I'm not sure we have any purple hair wokesters here. I know a few exist in the world because right wing media is pretty obsessed with them giving them outsized attention and making it seem more relevant than it is.

Very happy you don't still live here. Alan Wilson is a profoundly stupid fascist biiiitch. I'm guessing you are, too, if he's your friend.

Jermaine Johnson all the way.

What’s Mace going to do now? She won’t last without attention, but she’ll get lost in the podcast world. She loved the power of being in government. And, she isn’t really employable given her erratic behavior. She can’t do mainstream media.

Actual Reaganites no longer identify as GOP. We can’t stand Trump and the man is rolling in his grave over how y’all sold out to a narcissistic grifter.

If you voted Trump in 20 and 24 you are voting for a man with opposite policy positions to Reagan dumba$$.

CategoryReaganTrump
Trade/economicsFree trade anti-tariffPro tariff/protectionist
Foreign policyStrong supporter of western alliesTransactional, no longer term relationships
ImmigrationAmnesty, America as a “shining city on the hill”Violent and brutal crackdown on illegal immigrants
Fiscal policySomewhat anti-deficit”I love debt”
Geopolitical strategyHawkish expansion of democracy everywhereIsolationism, unless Bibi has pics of him with underage girls. In that case go balls to the wall in a massive strategic mistake.

Thanks for letting us know you are an absolute tool.

the thing is Reagan wasn't running in 2026, 2020 or 2024...democrats nominated Hilary Clinton, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris...

Clinton who had her own baggage, Biden who was too old, and Harris who a staunch Democrat doesn't want anywhere near the democrat presidential nominee next election. Democrats should have won all 3 - and imo trump would have won in 2020 had it not been for COVID.

We, neither republicans nor democrats (fortunately we independents seem to be smarter) have learned that in order to actually win you have to have a winning candidate....and not one who "backs into the presidency" because of the opposing candidate's weakness.

You saying you are an independent is frankly laughable based on your actual comments and constant defense of Trump.

I’m independent as well.

So don’t vote, or vote third party if you don’t like either candidate. But voting for an unethical scumbag just because he has a R next to his name? He is not a fiscal conservative. Many of his most important policies were the opposite of Reagan. He is not America first - he is Trump first. He has no ethos and no integrity.

People who say they are a Reagan Republican, but vote for Trump like OP? They are just being foolish…full stop.

oh, I don't disagree that Trump is not a Reagan Republican.

I don't like the option of not voting. I've voted in every election since I was eligible and won't avoid the booth just because I have to pick what I believe is the lesser of two evils. I don't vote party, I vote issues and I vote, not the issues as portrayed during the campaign because candidates make up stuff, I vote how the candidates have dealt with issues in the past. I have voted both R and D.

I don't particularly like Trump. I agree with many on here that he is a narcissist, lies most of the time...all the negatives that others have posted. But I like more of his policies than Harris....immigration, taxes, defense, boys in girls sports, NATO and a few more. Harris would, by her statements, just been 4 more years of Biden, Walz was a buffoon, and I was tired of that.

Trump does and says some really dumb things and is very divisive. We'd be better with andifferent person as President. But again, IMO, democrats don't have a lot more to offer right now other than tax billionaires, and be against anything trump is for. That might well be a winning strategy in 2026 and 2028, but it's not a very good government policy.

I look at the poll numbers for trump right now and IMO they are reflective of two things 1. people are not happy with trump's government and 2. they really didn't think the democrat candidate was very good. We knew what Trump did in the first term..the chaos, name calling etc, the felony convictions, the sexual abuse decision, and yet more people voted for him than Harris. Democrats should have won in 2024, but for some reason they just can't seem to get their act together in the selection process.

But you voted for an actual sexual predator.... Just own that, you decided that being a narcissist and felonious sexual assaulter was better than.... What?

It's guys like you who have given us what we are experiencing, I sincerely hope that you don't have daughters as Id imagine that would be a tough discussion. " yeah, I know he raped women, and brags about assaulting them, but Kamala also...."

There is no equivalency on that decisions, just own it. Do you have no integrity?
