I have also found this to be true after living and working in AL for a few years. There are a few I know that didn't attend Auburn, but non-attending Bammers are definitely in the majority. My wife and I have found ourselves to be College fan snobs. Until a couple years ago, in Mississippi it seemed like most people that were Ole Miss or Mississippi State fans I had some direct tie to the schools. One of our favorite nasty things to say to Bama and Auburn fans around here is, oh I did not know you went to that school? What year did you graduate? 9 times out of 10 they of course have to admit they have no direct tie to the school and a lot of them graduated from other schools and are just bandwagon fans. Bama is definitely the bandwagon school for people that move hear from out of state. When we are asked by the natives which school we pull for, Auburn or Bama, we of course say we don't, we graduated from Mississippi State. Then they try to ask which way we lean because we have to like one school better than the other we say, no we don't. Auburn fans are just as or are more annoying than Bama fans because they feel like they have to try to be as obnoxious as Bama fans. However, Bama fans are definitely in the majority. I do know one guy that graduated from Bama and says it is a good school for an education, but he is an Auburn fan because he can't stand the Bama fans. I do admire his conscious choice.
