He’s 17 and supposed to be a junior. Did the paperwork and classes to graduate early a la Bryce Harper.
Don’t think you would do that to get to college early. He has told people that he wants to play at State, but kids usually tell people what they want to hear.
He’s setting himself up for a first round draft pick and get to the MLB as soon as possible.

I just don't get the tweets and fanfare and all the pomp and circumstance if you have zero plan to play in college. I'm with you, no way he comes to school, but dont know why kids do that. I guess it could up his stock if MLB teams think there is a chance.

You answered your own question. The person with the most leverage usually gets a more favorable result in a negation scenario, so acting like you might go to school creates more leverage for the player when they negotiate with the teams that draft them or even just to get picked higher because clubs think you might just go to school if you drop to a certain point.

It just depends whether or not teams feel like he’s worth an early pick. He’s not great outside of hitting

Good for the kid, but why bother to recruit kids that are obviously going straight to pro ball? seems like it's a waste of resources and time.

What if he gets a wild hair up his *** and decides to play in a park that trumps most minor league venues.... someone with some pull needs to find a business he can sponsor for about 200k a year

Don't get me wrong, I'd love for him to come suit up for a few years. I just don't care for the idea of 'going to school' being used as leverage to draw more money.

First off Blaze is a MSU fan. 2nd he committed in 8th grade. What resources and time did we waste recruiting Blaze? 3rd he’s a good kid and his parents have money so it’s not about the money for him. Like any kid he has dreamed of playing MLB, so that will be the reason he goes pro. And I would be more pissed if we didn’t recruit kids of his talent just because off his draft status. It’s unbelievable people will ***** about recruiting too talented of a player.

Why? We’re getting great publicity and attention from it too. He is a well known name.

It should also be noted we signed one of his teammates Cade Smith who is a stud pitcher.

And two of his former teammates at DeSoto Central are freshmen this year too- Kamren James and Hunter French.

Not to mention a lot of Dulin’s Dodgers current and former.

The scouting side seems to think it's a better chance he shows up at MSU than is being projected currently. Elite bat trying to overcome no projectable position in the pros. It's almost impossible to get early first round $$ as a 1B. It will end up depending on what his number is as to where he goes and how signable he is. It's not worth getting excited about on our end, definitely still a longshot, just worth keeping an eye on as the time gets close. I'm sure many here know more from the player's side of things, just repeating what I've been told.

Hendrick is where there is zero shot. "Current Benintendi as a high school junior". Would be very surprised if he doesn't go in the top 10 overall.

That’s awesome! Congrats, i know you’re proud. I take my middle son to as many DC games as possible. Saw Cade pitch in the north half finals against Oxford as a Sophomore. Very impressive for a 10th header. Looking forward to watching him this year.
