Saw today where GA was suspending driving tests

During covid. One simply has to pass the written test and eye exam and you get a license. I’ve had 3 bad wrecks so I may not be the best questioner of who can drive and can’t drive but is this as insane as it sounds? The next question is if one of these “untested” drivers is involved with a fatal crash, would the state be liable?

i guess it’s not that outlandish as I know a lot of people with fishing licenses that can’t fish a lick so.....

Well, if they died in a wreck, the State could claim Covid 19 killed them now.

I have a brother in law that turns 16 Tuesday..... He’s excited as hell about this, however after riding with him, I’m now scared as hell.

There is absolutely NO WAY he’d pass an actual physical drivers test.

I got my license at 15 in Meridian - a memorable day because it was snowing lightly the day of my test. A rare event for Meridian.

Georgia requires 40 hours of supervised driving, including at least 6 night hours, before a license is granted. A family member could lie about the hours in their affidavits, I guess, but these aren't supposed to be total newbies getting licenses.

Also, 18 year olds who get licensed are only allowed to drive family members around for the first 6 months, then they are limited to just one peer member in the car.

Its not perfect, but no system is. The driving test is little more than a formality.

Or, just require the vehicle they are taking the test in to be Bluetooth capable, and administer the exam with the tester following behind in a different vehicle while giving instruction over the phone. All sorts of ways to still do an evaluation.
