Forecast for Minneapolis: Sunny, high of 36 degrees, winds 20-30mph, gusts to 40mph.
Cold and windy. How does that affect the game plan?

Certainly favors Minny as conditions like that affect our ability to throw downfield. I don't know how the wind behaves at TCF (hopefully it gets negated by the stadium design) but those are pretty tough conditions for throwing the ball.Forecast for Minneapolis: Sunny, high of 36 degrees, winds 20-30mph, gusts to 40mph.

think about this we have had near a perfect season as far as the weather goes and it takes until the 2nd to last game of the year in Minnesota before the cold weather gear had to come out...amazing.
The west end is open, so the wind can blow right in--it is not a deep stadium, so it likely won't create weird patterns. Going east to west will be tough and going west to east the ball will float or go off course. I worry about the longish passes that CT throws diagonally to Carr just at the sideline, since that's been bread and butter on third down. If we can establish the ground game with JJ and Moten, hopefully we can get by with short to medium passes.Certainly favors Minny as conditions like that affect our ability to throw downfield. He is as good as TS was as a RS Soph.Ct not ts
Seems to me that CT throws the ball in windy conditions as well as anyone so even if it curtails our pass game some it may curtail tears more. I'm more worried about cold hands dropping balls.Certainly favors Minny as conditions like that affect our ability to throw downfield. 5 days is a lifetime in the weather forecasting business. I would wait until Friday before considering impact.Forecast for Minneapolis: Sunny, high of 36 degrees, winds 20-30mph, gusts to 40mph.

Absolutely. Nate Silver devotes an entire chapter to this topic in his fascinating book "The Signal and the Noise."5 days is a lifetime in the weather forecasting business. I would wait until Friday before considering impact.
Forecasts up here have been pretty accurate in recent history. BUT, it could always snow.Absolutely. Nate Silver devotes an entire chapter to this topic in his fascinating book "The Signal and the Noise."
For my backpack trips, I generally don't plan around any forecast more than 48-72 hours out, especially in the mountains. Just too many variables.
That said, it sure seems that we have our first winter storm low set to progress over the northern plains later this week. Those are usually pretty good bets. Pretty certain there will be significant wind. Only question might be the temps, and perhaps precip.
Low temp will be 26 the on friday night with snow or rain, although by 2:30 game time, it should be up to at least 33, maybe 35 by half time and then headed down again after that due to a 23 degree low on sat.Absolutely. Think your about right. Went a couple of years back and the weather forecast on the TV that morning called for partly sunny with temps in the 40's. Game time it was cloudy and windy and by the end of the 2nd quarter a cold rain was falling. Turned into a downpour at halftime and then began to sleet in the middle of the 3rd quarter. Naturally we were in the upper deck and doubt if it hit 40 but the Cats won and it's a nice stadium and Minneapolis a great city to visit. The west end is open, so the wind can blow right in--it is not a deep stadium, so it likely won't create weird patterns. I think our running game is as good or better than MN's. Whether or not we win will depend on our OL and DL performance in the trenches. We are no stranger to cold weather in Chicago. The only strange thing is that it has been September weather for three months and this is the first taste of cold weather that we will have had for the season.
Yes, unless something big happens on ST, the outcome of the game will likely depend on which team wins the battle in the trenches.
Would not bode well for the men in Purple then.
Other than last year, these Minny games are usually close. I expect the same this year as Minny is probably a little better than most on this board give them credit for.
"West end", "east to west", "west to east"... I thought Ok. State was the only major college having a field that runs east-west!The west end is open, so the wind can blow right in--it is not a deep stadium, so it likely won't create weird patterns. Nope. Alarmist! Cloudy, windy and cold (32). That's it. That's enough.Looks like tomorrow may bring back recollections of last year's game at Notre Dame:
A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for much of western and northern Minnesota. Places like Bemidji and Brainerd could see more than 8 inches of snow, and winds could reach 35 to 50 miles-per-hour.
A Blizzard Warning has also been issued for parts of western Minnesota where wind gusts could hit 55 miles-per-hour, and 6 to 10 inches of snow is possible in those areas. Whiteout conditions will make travel dangerous throughout the day.

I worry a little because the guys won't know how to dress. Too many layers and you feel slow and heavy, too few and your all tight. The equipment guys better be ready.I'm not nearly as worried about which version of the weather shows up as I am about which version of our offensive line shows up.
