Did they huddle at USCjr? Who on the roster is a traditional FB?

It’s smart to have a back who can protect whilst we hopefully chuck it all over the yard to our tracksters.

Only SEC teams with vast talent advantages have won a CFP Title with a fullback. I would be fine if we were able to do that, too.

I stopped reading at “whilst.” I didn’t realize you’re British.

Didn’t we all just watch a spread team dismantle a traditional “power football” team with vastly better players (on paper) in the national semifinal?

Why is this exciting?
At this point we need to win 6 games, win 9 games, and eventually just win the conference. Any talk of something happening in the playoff is irrelevant to Nebraska at this time.

Isn’t the most traditional opponent we play iowa?

And didn’t we just run roughshod over them with speed & deep balls?

Why must we mimic something that has proven - time and again - to not get teams where we want to go?

Also, TCU won what, 5 games last year?

Then why isn't he recruiting any fullbacks or tight ends? We don't have any FBs on the roster and we don't have any proven TEs coming back.

I think it has to be more of an H-back. That is what they did at USCjr and what we have on the roster.

Some husker fans are nuts.

There is a reason that teams that run a very traditional offense don't actually win anything that matters.

They can't score enough and it is too easy to keep games close. Good lord, NU almost shut out Iowa last year. SDSU did shut them out the first game.

Look at lamesconsin...NU almost beat them...Same with Minny.

So they are recruiting all of these track star receivers to run a slow, huddle offense with a fullback? Makes no sense. No good offense in college football still uses a huddle and a fullback.

That last statement is just plain false or ignorant.

But look at Rhule's Baylor team - they used a fullback and went under center strategically, even though they were primarily a spread team.

It can and should be a part of the playbook - for situational moments at the very least.

Because what happened in one game between two teams is meaningless.

Can someone point me to the quote from our coaches that says we are only going to run the full back and only going to play with tight ends? Thanks in advance.

Best thing to do is actually listen to the presser. The two basic points are a pro-style offense and a huddle. He gives reasons for each. Worth a listen.

Its exciting to those of us who can think deeper about the issue than "Team A does B, they beat Team C, they do D. Therefore doing B is clearly superior to doing D."

I love a team that huddles. Cant stand getting in a formation to give the defense a chance to see what you are going to do. People keep mentioning Iowa. If Iowas coaches had any brains and had a qb that could also run the ball, they would score a lot more points and probably would have beat us again this year. But thank god they idolize that idiot of a coach.

I wish we had a competent short yardage/ goal line running back in the 230 pound range.

Maybe one of these tweener athletic linebackers that won’t start right away, but also played offense as an athlete/ running back in high school could get coached up and help out as a big back.. just a thought idk.

This is why I started to theorize we were going to be more of a power shotgun team. But yeah odd they mentioned the FB again no idea.

Honestly anyone confused by these statements need only watch some of the full length 2015/2016 Temple games on youtube. They ran singleback, shotgun, offset I and I-formation plays. 2015 they had a 2,973 yard passer and RBs went for 2096 rushing yards and 2016 qbs went for 3,324 and RBs got 2466. They are going to be passing quite a bit and running quite a bit.
