With the SEC granting players who transferred within the conference immediate eligibility due to COVID-19 I don't see how they could treat Olivier Sarr any differently. Gatewood
I agree. I would look very bad on the SEC if they were to deny Sarr eligibility. It is looking more & more like they will let him play.
I hope he’s eligible, but how would the SEC look bad? And who to?I agree. I would look very bad on the SEC if they were to deny Sarr eligibility.
Ditto. The "uncertainty" is only for anxious Kentucky fans. John Calipari, Olivier Sarr and his Kentucky teammates have behaved in ways that make it very clear they've been very confident from the first day. Sarr is totally integrated into all team activities. Cal describes him as part of the team, and has done absolutely nothing to put an insurance policy against the chance that a vital part of the team might not be available.
As for why the SEC hasn't made it official yet: The football season, which involved myriad unprecedented complications, just started five days ago. They are still clearing football players like Gatewood for much more controversial IN CONFERENCE waivers -- these involve a team within the conference sometimes not too eager to see a player cleared. The case for turning down an OUT OF CONFERENCE player, with no constituency inside the SEC which hasn't contested the move, and which the NCAA has already improved, is nonexistent.
They would look bad to anyone unbiased who follows what is happening. How can you clear in conference transfers due to COVID 19 issues and not clear an out of conference transfer and say you are being fair minded.I hope he’s eligible, but how would the SEC look bad? And who to?

I say the only question left is why is this taking so long?
Good question...maybe SEC was focusing on getting football players eligible first.

We all truely know why....I say the only question left is why is this taking so long?
Ask UKNCINCY. I am sure if there is a way he will be able to expound on it. He knows all kind of ways players will be denied waivers. When I stated waivers will be easier to get this year because of Covid 19. He stated that was false. I guess SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey doesn't agree. Wonder why he has quit posting? With the SEC granting players who transferred within the conference immediate eligibility due to COVID-19 I don't see how they could treat Olivier Sarr any differently. Gatewood
Ukncincy says the NCAA was not more lenient this year but we all know he is wrong. They definitely were more lenient this year. After Sankey made that long speech Wednesday on Covid-19 and other circumstances he is going to have to approve all waivers how he worded it.
He would have alot of headaches if he transfers this set of athlete's and then not approve this athlete after his statement Wednesday. Also, Sarr has been approved by the NCAA so with what Sankey said about Covid-19 and other circumstances this year that he felt that the Athletes should be approved this year. The only reason I could see about a transfer having a problem is if he has problems with grades.
This should be a no brainier for all conferences this year with everything that has went on with Covid-19 and other issues and circumstances in 2020. I still believe that the NCAA was more Lenient this year because of Covid-19 and other issues in 2020.
Does Toppin still need that now that the season won't count anyway. There never ever has been anything to worry about Sarr being eligible . I mean sure the tinfoil hat crowd likes to think of conspiracies but any player who wants to be eligible during covid can be ( and should be ) . Why you know Toppin wants to have a season off to get better since he isn't even trying to play this year.
How do you know they are treating Sarr differently? If Sarr's waiver application gets approved, wouldn't that prove otherwise? Or do they have to approve his waiver in the football time frame? With the SEC granting players who transferred within the conference immediate eligibility due to COVID-19 I don't see how they could treat Olivier Sarr any differently. Gatewood
You misunderstood my statement. I said I don't see how they can treat Sarr any differently. I did not say they are treating him differently. How do you know they are treating Sarr differently? If Sarr's waiver application gets approved, wouldn't that prove otherwise? Or do they have to approve his waiver in the football time frame?
Announcement coming this week. I heard that a month ago.![]()
Does anyone have a hard count for the # of transfers the SEC dealt with/is dealing with this academic year?I believe that Sarr's transfer waiver will be approved by the SEC.
I am sure with everything that has went on this year the SEC Office is extremely busy and trying to get through the fall sports waivers like football. I believe we will be hearing soon that Sarr's waiver is approved.
Nice. I’d love to see Toppin eligible. Need that bench.
