Take it down a couple of decades ago! There is no logical way to defend a state flag that is obviously offensive to over 30% of the population.

17 Sankey. If the citizens of MS want it changed then change it. Sankey doesn't need to stick his nose where it doesn't belong

There really is no excuse to have not changed it yet. I’m not “woke”, not a Democrat, and despise cancel culture. But that symbol is clearly and justifiably offensive to a large group of people, unlike a lot of this other “gator bait” BS. It’s time to change it. If you don’t support changing it for noble reasons, at a minimum you should support it because the cost of keeping it is only going to keep going up for the state.

Is he trying to threaten the Big House from hosting the bb tourney? Or Veterans

Memorial from hosting the football conference championship? Damn that guy! Sorry, just had to laugh at the notion of any major events being held here to begin with.

Would be nice for Tupelo to host the Women’s BB Tourney, which we currently cannot do bc of that flag.

It needs to be taken down and it probably was regardless of Sankeys message. But now it going to be taken as “the SEC forced Mississippi to change its state flag” when it reality it was probably going down this year anyway

I’m always scared MSU is going to have a group of players refuse to play unless the flag is changed. It would be a lightening rod for media.

I hate the “let the citizens decide” crowd. 17 that.

Our legislature has the power to replace the current flag without a full scale public vote, just like they had the power to put the current flag in place many years ago without a public vote. Them saying “let the voters decide” is such a cowardly attempt to pass the buck.

We elected them to lead the state and act in the best interest of their constituents. It is clearly in the state’s best interest to change the flag- and that has been the case for a long time.

To the representatives in Jackson: get off your asses and lead.

Nobody likes being told what to do.. but it looks like we can’t make a good decision on our own. Sankey is right. We are not. It’s that simple.

He’s setting up the NCAA to take the regionals and super regionals away. Will people listen then?

Tupelo?... I’m just going to assume you mean host the MS high school state championship tournament and try not to contemplate otherwise.

This line of thinking hasn’t really served MS well over the past 150 years. ....Maybe we listen to somebody who’s trying to lead us down the right path?

Sometimes, someone has to kick you in the *** to get you out the door. Yeah, " you were leaving", but you need that kick to get moving...

The Legislature should have done it in 2001, but were to chickenshit to do it then.

Also, while I was typing this, Keenum came out and reminded us that MSU has been pushing for changing the flag for years...

He is the commissioner of the SEC. He completely can say where he wants the championships to be played. Hell I wished he would have threatened to not allow the State schools to compete. That would have lit a fire under some asses.

It's Mississippi's "Jim Crow" flag. Some of our student-athletes grand-daddies weren't allowed to vote because of Jim Crow. And other things.

Why do folks try to whitewash history and defend that flag? Irrational fear of black people? I don't know.

Anyone who thinks he helped the cause of changing the flag (which I am very much in favor of) in Ms. is a damn fool. Stoopid move on his part.

You do realize this move will likely make the NCAA decide not to allow postseason play
in MS right?

17 Sankey. If the citizens of MS want it changed then change it. Sankey doesn't need to stick his nose where it doesn't belong

He oversees the conference to which the 2 largest universities in the state belong.
His organization oversees where games are played.

His voice and nose does belong in this conversation.
Its the same as a CEO discussing where they would or wouldn't place a factory or warehouse due to politicians and policies.
Employment laws, road and rain infrastructure, educated workforce, schools, etc- these are typically reasons given why a company will or won't set up shop in a location and they too are political and policy based.

This is no different.

That’s what I thought was coming as I read the release. ...No sanctioned SEC games in MS while the flag flies.

That would be an interesting turn of events.

You fit in well with what the dems want. Pussies who are told what to think and do.

My point is, some dipshit, who the majority of you have claimed to despise, is telling you what to do with your state. If you think it should be changed then do it. Protest outside the 17ing capitol until it's done. Not because some dick who runs a sports conference is threatening you.

You do realize less than 30% of the VOTERS in Mississippi have a college diploma and could give a **** about the NCAA...and while they might not get to vote on the flag, they will get to vote on the pols who vote on the flag. Wake the 17 up...we've got to play the game to win this.

Say what he and the league strongly prefer and express his strong wishes we get this done and offer his help in doing so. The threat is absolutely the last thing we need from the outside at this point.

But 17 Sankey.

Tell him to eat ****, and mind his own business.

Mississppi is his business though. In a way, it looks bad for the SEC as a whole. The conference doesn't need us. Don't give them a reason to get rid of the Mississippi schools.

Read the article I just posted a reply above yours, then get back to me. Why is nobody going after Arkansas' flag? And the MS schools ain't going NOWHERE.

Inappropriate time for Sankey to say something IMO. It’s up to the state and I agree we don’t need or want someone telling us what to do with a threat. Bush league.

With that said I’m kinda like screw it now and just go with the Stennis flag and be done with it. One other thing, the state glad doesn’t fly on any campus does it?

It certainly is but if he really wants to help he needs to keep his mouth shut and not "stir up the bubbas" with his threats...that just hurts the cause. It's gonna take smarts and finesse not outsider threats to pull this off.
