The guy played the last month of the season with a sports hernia. It’s insane to me he played at all, let alone what he did. What a dude.
Yeah basketball is rough with a sports hernia. Everything can go fine for a while and it doesn’t bother you at all, then make the wrong move and it’s like someone stabbed you right in the groin.

Glad it’s been diagnosed and hopefully he’ll get it repaired soon. Seems like a lot of athletes drag it out and try to avoid surgery, but to no avail.

I’m not a medical doctor and don’t portray one on TV either, but wouldn’t this basically quash any possibility re: the NBA with him being draft worthy?

I remember the football program having a rash of these back in the day. I think the official message was it was supposed to be one of Boyd’s machines causing it? Wink wink

Not really. It’s likely a simple repair and he would be ready to go by Summer League. If a team really wants him, this will just be a small speed bump. I obviously hope he’s back at NU next year, but this won’t limit his options.

Pete Maravich passed away from in large heart that was undetected by the doctors and people rarely lived passed 20 years of age.

Which was remarkable that he played all those year without dying until 40 years of age.

His shot release is the quickest release I have ever seen and at times I can’t believe how many shots he makes.
My two sons and I agreed mid-season the reason his shot is so quick is from little brother syndrome. He grew up with Payton blocking every shot he took so he learned to get it off quick. My youngest son never reached for a ball from the age of 2-12 where his older brother didn't try to knock him on his butt, so he wholeheartedly agrees with this theory.

Yep. My elementary-aged boys played 1 on 2 against college-aged brother a few weeks ago. Crazy how much quicker they were getting shots off 5 minutes into a scrimmage, after getting stuffed repeatedly.
