I wouldn’t say they’ve figured it out. I mean, how does that work? Did Duke figure it out from 1986 to 1994 and forget how to do it?

Villanova has a great group of players right now. They have great veterans who have been through battles. See UNC the two years prior, as well. Villanova has had teams with this same kind of makeup forever....they just weren’t as talented as this team. Talent counts, too.

And no, it would have been tough to compete with Villanova tonight....for every team in the country. They made almost 20 three’s....that’s pretty impressive. I don’t think they would have blown us out, though.

Really? How would we have defended them today? You think our zone restricts their shooters? All 7 of them? Or maybe we stop Brunson from penetrating? Not likely....this team has all the elements that we cannot compete with...3 years of basketball experience, strength training, practice and coaching is a huge advantage compared to 4 months...its men against boys....literally...

You’re right. You’re very smart.

They were great offensively all season. Not on defense. Their defense has improved drastically. They were barely top 50 in adjusted defense most of the year.

And Coach K hasn’t compromised his program.

I’d encourage you to go become the biggest Villanova fan in the world. Start tonight, please.

Nope...I'm a huge Duke fan..sorry....just not a bandwagon fan for what they are today but more to what they were traditionally. If that hurts you then I'm sorry. I want Duke to be what they were when i became a fan 30 years ago...and Nova is closer to that today than we are.

You're better than that.

Probably. But we’re not reaching any kind of middle ground. You got all huffy because I wouldn’t acknowledge that we’d get blown out? Please.

Villanova would have beaten anyone tonight. They were outstanding. They’ve been good all season. Jay Wright is a great coach. Better dresser. They’re on a helluva run right now. What more do you want me to say?

No huffiness..reality. Happy to concede what you desire. Interpretation of the post is on the reader. I had no ill intent just my humble opinion and preference for my views on college BB. So goodnight. We can debate another day.

You can’t prove reality without....reality.

Villanova has had an incredible run the last three years. It can become even more special Monday night.

I am hoping Villanova blows Michigan out on Monday. Michigan fans have been the most arrogant fans in San Antonio. The wolverines are in for a reality check on Monday.

They played well all season. Not just tonight. Jay Wright has a philosophy he runs his program with and wont compromise to pick up the "great" player. They must buy into his system and the team. That used to be us...
Whine much? Nova lost to Saint John’s this year, remember?

So Nova had just one McD all american in the last 3 years....one next year....does recruiting the very best really produce a team that has the potential to win it all every year? Or should we look to recruit the right players to blend a team? Nova could win NT's 2 of the last 3 years...maybe their formula is the one we should emulate.
You’re cherry picking. Nova lost 45 games from 2010-11 through 2012-13.

There are definitely more of them here than the other three fanbases.

Huffy, how you like San Antonio? I think it’s a cool city.

It is great. It is such a cool place for the Final Four, with the Riverwalk within walking distance of the Alamodome. Did you head down there last night after the games?

Nova I always believed they were the best team in this tournament. Blasphemy I know but I didn’t like our chances vs them
I was scared of Nova from the word Jump. With a week to prepare, they'd have beat us mercilessly. Now, if Duke had taken care of business vs BC and VT in the conf, we'd have had Xavier's number 1 seed, and would be playing them on Monday. With a week to prepare, Nova would definitely have whipped us. With a day to prepare? IDK.
.
Nevertheless, Nova might be the reason why zone D's don't work in March.
